Job Overview
We're seeking an experienced Lead CNC Machinist / Manufacturing Lead to become the manufacturing leader of our operation. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines exceptional machining skills with strong mechanical aptitude, a passion for quality craftsmanship, and a desire to continuously improve the manufacturing process.
The ideal candidate has experience setting up, programming, troubleshooting, and continuously improving CNC machining operations, and is looking for the opportunity to help lead a growing manufacturing business
You'll work directly with the owner to oversee day-to-day machining operations, solve manufacturing challenges, improve production efficiency, and help modernize our equipment and manufacturing processes while preserving the quality and reputation that have made our company successful for more than 20 years.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily CNC machining operations while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC milling machines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Edit CNC programs and make machining adjustments as needed.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues to maintain production quality and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, tooling, fixturing, workflow, and overall shop efficiency.
- Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other inspection tools.
- Document manufacturing processes and preserve valuable shop knowledge.
- Mentor and train future machinists as the company grows.
- Partner with ownership on production planning, equipment improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Significant CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong CNC setup, troubleshooting, and program editing skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience maintaining tight tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
- Thorough understanding of tooling, fixturing, workholding, feeds, and speeds.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience working with both legacy CNC equipment and modern machining technologies.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software.
- Ability to work with or modify 3D part models.
- Experience improving manufacturing processes, tooling, fixturing, or shop workflow.
- Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
