RECOVERY HOUSE MANAGER – FT (Salt Lake City)

***Due to agency licensing and supervision requirements, this position is open to female applicants only.***

Have you been considering going into social work, women’s services, or other non-profit service organization? We are seeking a full-time (36-39 hours) House Manager. You will learn firsthand about women’s treatment, helping people grow in a therapeutic community, reunifying mothers and children, and most importantly, about your own strengths and challenges.

Nestled between downtown SLC and the University of Utah, House of Hope (HOH), a local nonprofit, empowers women, strengthens families, and promotes recovery in our community. As Utah’s oldest treatment center, we have a long legacy of employing staff who are dedicated to the mission of spreading hope, nurturing healing, and encouraging personal growth in our colleagues, our clients, and our organization. House of Hope is proud to serve underserved populations and is passionate about providing quality care to clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Supervise clients recovering from substance use disorder at one of our residential facilities for clients with children.
Ensure client safety and adherence to program policies.
Monitor the house/facility for proper functioning.
Complete documentation via electronic health care record system (UWITS) notes for each client in a timely manner.
Maintain order amongst clients and Recovery Assistant staff, run conflict resolution groups, and generally offer support and teach basic life skills to the female residents in treatment for substance use disorder as well as their children.
Conduct and document weekly room searches, client inventory checks, and monthly fire drills.
Provide informative and detail-oriented client notes for the treatment team to review and incorporate into the treatment process.
Responsible for transporting women individually or in small groups to various appointments and help get their needs met at various community programs in the community, if needed.
Attend weekly house manager meetings, weekly clinical staff meetings, monthly All Staff meeting, and monthly RA training meeting.
Facilitate weekly conflict resolution groups with clients and Case Manager(s) to assertively address issues and promote smooth functioning of the house.
Orient new clients to house schedule, program policies, and procedures.
Monitor client compliance with curfew, house duties, and other program rule requirements.
Assign duties to clients, update chore and room assignment lists.
Employ de-escalation techniques and use crisis management skills to maintain a healthy and safe environment for clients and staff.
Assist in training new Recovery Assistant staff members on all procedures and rules to ensure smooth functioning of the house.
Guide and support Recovery Assistants throughout their employment to develop their skills and ensure professional working relations.
Conduct urine drug tests, as directed by supervisors or clinical staff.

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset

Has a passion for making a difference in the lives of families in our community. Experience working with mothers and children in a direct care setting and/or have experience working in a treatment program specializing in the area of recovery from substance use disorder(s) is preferred.
Have basic computer skills and writing ability, as well as good communication and phone skills.
Have above-average problem-solving skills, conflict-resolution abilities, and above all, a sense of humor!

Agency Requirements

Non-smoking worksite: no tobacco products allowed.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must pass extensive post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug test.
If in recovery, must have at least 2+ years of continuous sobriety.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and climb stairs.
Must have own reliable transportation, current valid driver’s license, clean driving record (no major moving violations), and willing to transport clients in own car or agency vehicles on occasion.
Must be able to adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.
Must have a compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges.

Education Required

High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree in field of communications, psychology, business, social work, etc. preferred but not required; experience in similar fields will be accepted in lieu of degree

Hours & Schedule

Full-time 38 hours/week, Sunday-Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Mondays

Wages & Benefits

$18.00 per hour and full-time benefits package, including:

Health Insurance: 80% of employee premium paid for base+ plan
Dental Insurance available at employee’s cost, if desired
Vision Insurance available at employee’s cost, if desired
2x salary life insurance policy (no cost to employee)
Long-term disability insurance paid 100% by House of Hope
