SurvTech Solutions is seeking an experienced Revit Modeler to support our 3D laser scanning, reality capture, and Scan-to-BIM projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong Autodesk Revit skills and demonstrated experience creating accurate existing-condition and as-built BIM models from point-cloud data. This position requires more than Revit drafting proficiency—we are looking for someone who can independently interpret point clouds, understand building systems and construction, make sound modeling decisions, and consistently produce accurate, organized deliverables.
The Revit Modeler will collaborate with project managers, field personnel, and technical staff to transform reality-capture data into high-quality BIM models and documentation for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate existing-condition and as-built Revit models from 3D laser scan and point-cloud data as well as provided 2D drawings and pdf’s.
- Model architectural, structural, and MEP elements based on project scope and required Level of Development (LOD).
- Independently interpret point-cloud data and identify building components, geometry, elevations, and spatial relationships.
- Create floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and other project deliverables from Revit models.
- Establish and maintain project levels, grids, coordinates, views, sheets, worksets, and model organization.
- Create and modify Revit families when required to accurately represent existing conditions.
- Compare models against point-cloud data and perform quality-control checks to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Identify unclear, missing, or conflicting conditions in the source data and communicate questions to the project team.
- Incorporate revisions and quality-control comments efficiently.
- Follow SurvTech BIM standards, project specifications, naming conventions, and file-management procedures.
- Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure project scope and client requirements are clearly understood.
- Manage assigned modeling tasks independently and meet established project schedules and budgets.
- Assist with improving Revit templates, family libraries, Scan-to-BIM workflows, and quality-control procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and support to less-experienced modelers when appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional Autodesk Revit experience, preferably including significant Scan-to-BIM or existing-condition modeling experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
- Demonstrated experience modeling directly from registered point clouds.
- Strong understanding of architectural and building construction terminology and systems.
- Ability to accurately interpret floor plans, elevations, sections, construction drawings, and field conditions.
- Strong knowledge of Revit families, views, sheets, schedules, worksets, coordinates, and model-management practices.
- Ability to independently take a project from point-cloud data through completed Revit deliverables.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to model accuracy.
- Ability to recognize discrepancies and determine when additional information or clarification is required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced professional who understands that Scan-to-BIM is not simply tracing a point cloud. The successful candidate will understand how buildings are constructed, recognize what the point-cloud data represents, and use professional judgment to create models that accurately represent existing conditions.
The right candidate should be able to work independently, maintain a high level of accuracy, communicate potential issues early, and take ownership of the quality of their deliverables.
Candidates should be prepared to provide examples of previous Revit work demonstrating their experience with existing-condition or Scan-to-BIM modeling.
