Adult Day Care Center DirectorPosition Summary

Are you an experienced healthcare professional with strong leadership, organizational, and management skills? We are seeking a dedicated Adult Day Care Center Director to oversee the daily operations of our Adult Day Care Center. Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Gerontology, Health Science, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, or a related field and demonstrate a passion for serving older adults and individuals requiring supportive care.

Primary Purpose

The Adult Day Care Center Director is responsible for the overall management, administration, compliance, staffing, programming, and quality of services provided by the Adult Day Care Center. This position ensures a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for participants while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities Administration

Represent the Adult Day Care Center at staff meetings and organizational functions.
Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all participant, staff, and program records and reports.
Train and support the Assistant Director to perform essential administrative duties during the Director's absence.
Foster positive relationships among staff, volunteers, participants, caregivers, and community partners.
Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator regarding volunteer recruitment, engagement, and performance.
Assist in the development, implementation, and review of policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Participate in professional development and training opportunities as appropriate.
Maintain open communication with Case Management and Quality Assurance staff regarding participant care needs.
Complete and maintain documentation required to meet licensing and regulatory standards.
Monitor and manage the center’s budget in accordance with organizational guidelines.
Ensure participant records are complete, current, and compliant with applicable regulations.
Assess participant needs and coordinate with families, healthcare providers, and staff as necessary.
Maintain working knowledge of Adult Day Care regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.
Develop, implement, and oversee daily activity programs and monthly activity schedules that meet participants’ interests and cognitive abilities.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Safety and Risk Management

Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all participants while attending the center.
Adhere to and enforce established safety policies and procedures.
Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Identify potential hazards and take prompt corrective action.

Participant Care

Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, including toileting, feeding, bathing, and other personal care needs as required.
Monitor therapeutic and rehabilitative services to ensure they meet participant needs.
Assist participants safely and appropriately, including regularly lifting or assisting with weights up to 50 pounds.

Leadership and Staff Supervision

Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and support center staff.
Implement and enforce organizational policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Conduct annual reviews of policies, procedures, and emergency preparedness protocols with staff.
Review fire safety procedures with staff on a monthly basis.
Encourage staff development and promote engaging, participant-centered programming.
Coordinate and provide ongoing in-service training and ensure completion of all required certifications and educational requirements, including ADI training.
Verify completion of Level II background screenings in coordination with Human Resources before employment begins.
Oversee nursing services to ensure medications and treatments are administered according to physician orders and organizational protocols.
Ensure nursing documentation is completed accurately and timely.

Reporting Relationships

The Adult Day Care Center Director reports to the Director of Day Services. The Director is expected to maintain positive and professional relationships with staff, volunteers, participants, caregivers, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Gerontology, or a related health or human services field.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and basic computer skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate responsibilities effectively, and perform under pressure.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Preferred

Experience working with older adults or in the geriatric field.
Previous supervisory or management experience in healthcare, adult day care, or related services.

Employment Requirements

Successful completion of all required background screenings.
Compliance with all organizational health and vaccination requirements, including vaccinations required during public health emergencies.

Schedule

Full-time, salaried position.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Mandatory participation in two Saturday workdays per year.
