Full Job Description

For more than 50 years, the Environmental Nature Center (ENC) has inspired children and adults to connect with nature through hands-on environmental education. Each year, we serve thousands of students, families, and teachers through school field trips, Traveling Naturalist programs, Nature Camps, and educational programs at both our Newport Beach campus and ENC Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in Modjeska Canyon.

We're seeking an experienced Education Programs Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our education department.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys doing both.

What You'll Do

This position coordinates many of the moving pieces that make the ENC's education programs successful.

Responsibilities include:

Coordinating school field trips, Traveling Naturalist programs, Nature Camps, and educational programming at both the ENC and Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.
Recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, scheduling, and supervising our team of Naturalists and camp staff.
Serving as the primary contact for teachers and school partners.
Managing program logistics, calendars, staffing, and registration.
Occasionally teaching environmental education programs and modeling outstanding teaching practices for Education Staff.
Coaching and supporting Naturalists to ensure consistently engaging, high-quality educational experiences.
Assisting with reports, budgeting, and education program administration.
Working collaboratively with the Vice President and the rest of the ENC team.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has:

Experience teaching environmental education, outdoor education, science education, or similar programs.
Experience supervising or mentoring educators or staff.
Outstanding organizational and scheduling skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
A collaborative, positive attitude and strong leadership skills.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Education, Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resources, Recreation, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of California native plants, wildlife, and ecology is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements
