About the Role

We’re hiring a Customer Service Manager to build and scale a high-quality, multi-channel customer service operation. This is not a “maintain what exists” role—you’ll be responsible for designing the system, hiring the team, and creating the standards that define how we interact with customers.

Our customer interactions involve financial matters (payments, cost structures, and account decisions), so clarity, accuracy, and trust are critical. This role is ideal for someone who can combine operational rigor with strong people leadership.

You will report directly to the General Manager and operate with a high degree of autonomy.

Essential Responsibilities

● Build and scale a customer service team to ~20 people (ICs + junior supervisors)

● Manage all support channels: phone, email, and chat

● Design and implement workflows, KPIs, and performance systems

● Select, improve, or replace tools (CRM, call systems, reporting)

● Hire, train, and develop team members and frontline leadership

● Handle escalations and ensure high-quality customer outcomes

● Establish and enforce compliance standards in customer interactions

● Partner with internal teams to ensure alignment and information flow

What Success Looks Like

● A fully staffed, well-structured team with clear roles and accountability

● Defined KPIs and reporting that accurately reflect performance

● Consistent, high-quality customer interactions across all channels

● Reduced escalations through better frontline capability

● A team that can clearly explain financial options to customers

● No surprises—leadership is consistently informed and aligned

Qualifications/Skills

● CRM platforms (experience required; specific system not required)

● Web-based call center software

● Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.)

● Data-driven decision making expected

● You’ve built or significantly improved a customer service operation—not just managed one

● You’re comfortable working in environments involving financial conversations (payments, cost breakdowns, etc.)

● You can translate complex or sensitive information into clear customer communication

● You lead proactively—setting expectations early and communicating issues quickly

● You’re hands-on when needed but focused on building systems that scale

Education / Experience

● Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience)
● 5–8+ years of progressive customer service or call center leadership experience
● Minimum 3+ years in a management role with responsibility for team performance and development
● Experience building or scaling a customer service function strongly preferred
● Experience in financial services, debt resolution, or other regulated environments highly preferred
● Demonstrated success implementing KPIs, performance management systems, and process improvements
● Experience managing multi-channel customer support environments (phone, email, chat)

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $35-42 per hour

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Physical Requirements

● Ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods of time

● Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (files, office materials)
