Blair Group Consulting is hiring canvassers for a traveling field team working on political campaigns across several states. Canvassers go door to door in assigned neighborhoods, talk with voters, and record every conversation in a mobile app. The work runs in assignments now through November.
This is real, hands-on campaign experience. Canvassers who perform well have the chance to be promoted to team lead or field manager, and many go on to full-time roles in politics.
What You'll Do
You will walk an assigned turf list each day, knock on the doors on that list, and have short, respectful conversations with the voters who answer. You will follow a script provided in training, answer basic questions about the campaign or project, and log the outcome of each door on your phone before moving to the next one. Canvassers check in with their manager or team lead at the start and end of every shift and are expected to meet a daily door and contact goal.
Expect to walk several miles a day, outdoors, in whatever weather the assignment brings.
What We Provide
- Travel to and from the project, and transportation to turf each day
- Shared lodging for the duration of the assignment
- Training before you go into the field
- All materials, scripts, and the canvassing app
- Ability to work over time at 1.5x pay
What We're Looking For
- 18 years or older, with a government-issued photo ID
- A smartphone you can use for work, with a charger and portable battery
- Comfort talking with strangers and staying steady through rejection
- Physical ability to walk several miles a day and stand for extended periods
- Availability to travel and live away from home for the full length of an assignment (now through November)
- Dependability: showing up on time, every scheduled day
No prior campaign experience is required. Training is provided. Prior work in canvassing, field organizing, retail, food service, sales, or any other public-facing job is a plus.
Working Conditions and Appearance
Canvassing is outdoor work in varying conditions. Canvassers represent Blair Group Consulting and our clients at the door, so a clean, professional appearance is required: plain shirts or polos without large logos or slogans, weather-appropriate pants or shorts, and closed-toe walking shoes. A full packing list and dress code is provided before your assignment begins.
