We are currently accepting applications to fill one (1) Bilingual English/ Spanish Therapy Attendant position for a CSR 1414*, Part-Time (0.75 FTE) vacancy on the California Children’s Services (CCS) team in Santa Barbara.
NOTE: The schedule for this in-person positions is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

- CSR 1414 (Leave of Absence): This recruitment is to fill a position vacated as a result of a leave of absence (CSR 1414) and the duration of the appointment shall be subject to the return of the individual who is on leave. A person who is appointed to a position under CSR 1414 may be able to transition into a regular position in the classification without re-application or re-testing, depending on the performance of the appointee and the needs of the department.
All County employees must reside in the State of California throughout the duration of employment.

THE POSITION:
Under close supervision, the Therapy Attendant assists professional staff in providing physical and occupational therapy to infants and children with physical disabilities; performs related work as required.

THE PROGRAM: California Children's Services (CCS): The CCS program provides diagnostic and treatment services, medical case management, and physical and occupational therapy services to children under age 21 years with CCS-eligible medical conditions. - Provides or assists treatment of patients under the direct supervision of a physical or occupational therapist.

Prepares clients for treatment by assisting with transferring patients; weighing and measuring patients; assists with positioning them for treatment.

Assists therapists in explaining various treatment activities to patients, parents, specialist, and teachers.
-
Cleans treatment areas; maintains laundry, inventory of patient's supplies, and sanitation of therapy supplies and equipment.

Answer phones; schedules patient appointments; filing; maintains appropriate records and documentation of patient's treatment.

Transports patients from classrooms to on-site treatment centers.

Track durable medical equipment and orthotics orders from prescription through delivery, maintain follow-up log and schedule DME clinic.

Assist with clinic preparation, operation and follow-up. Responsibilities include: clinic schedules, appointment verification (for Spanish speaking families), room set-up, clinic reception, help in preparation of patient for exam, interpretation for patients, social worker, and physicians, height and weight measurements for pediatric clinic.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent AND some experience working with children or individuals with physical disabilities; OR,

A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License may be required for some positions.

Bilingual – Speaking, Reading, and Writing Preferred: The ability to converse, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish is preferred. Note: You must self-certify on your application that you are fluent in English and Spanish. Hiring departments may test you on your fluency. If you do not demonstrate sufficient fluency, your name may be withheld from future certifications that require bilingual skills, in accordance with Civil Service Rules.

Selectees for positions in this class assigned to Child Welfare Services are subject to being fingerprinted for the purpose of criminal record clearance, as authorized under Section 11105.3 of the California Penal Code and Section 16501 of the Welfare and Institutions Code.

Supplemental Questionnaire Rating – Responses to the required examination supplemental questions will be evaluated and scored. Candidates’ final score and rank on the eligibility list will be determined by the responses to these questions. This process may be eliminated if there are fewer than 11 qualified candidates.
Candidates must receive a percentage score of at least 70 on the Supplemental Questionnaire Rating assessment to be placed on an employment list. An adjustment may be made to raw scores based on factors listed in Civil Service Rule 6. Those candidates who are successful in the selection process will have their names placed on the employment list for a minimum of three months. At the time the employment list is established, all candidates will receive an email
notice of their score on the examination, rank on the employment list, and duration of the employment list.
