Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $25.38 to $25.95/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $25.38 to $35.97/hr.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:
Under supervision, performs a wide variety of tasks following guidelines which often must be applied independently with knowledge of University policy and museum practices. Duties include but are not limited to: Greets and serves as first point of contact for all museum visitors. Provides general information about exhibitions, upcoming exhibitions and events. Responsible for opening and closing the museum. Provides advice to all building usiers on operations, safety procedures and security. Runs the Museum's Front Office. Coordinates ordering of supplies and manages office equipment. Works on travel, reimbursement, purchasing, and UC Regents and UCSB Foundation gift accounts paperwork. Handles gift funds, including gift acceptance and transfers. Other duties as assigned.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
35% Facility Operations - Opens and closes the museum, card key and alarm; turns on electronic components which are part of the exhibitions. Answers questions and assists visitors to the Museum. Records gallery attendance, and schedules tours. Provides information and advice to all building users on operations, safety procedures, and security. Handles financial transactions, catalog sales and memberships and donation box. Responsible for daily checks of galleries to monitor cleanliness, hazards, lights, and other physical details as specified by the Designer. Oversees and ensures security of the Museum. Develops security procedures with Museum Registrar, Designer, and other staff, as needed. Works closely with Museum Registrar in matters regarding security of the collections. Hires and supervises student museum guards. Is responsible for scheduling guards during museum regular business hours and special events.

30% Administrative Duties / Office Management - Runs the front office and is the primary interface with the public. Coordinates the ordering of office supplies and manages office equipment. Interviews, trains, and supervises temporary staff. Ensures integrity of administrative records. Using judgment and initiative, prioritizes and manages the workflow for the administrative component of the museum. Handles unique problems and situation that require independence of action, immediate interpretation of information and independent problem solving. Manages internal information flow of Museum activities. Establishes and maintains non-collection museum databases.

20% Financial Support - Works closely with the AASC Museum Financial Coordinator and Manager with the paperwork associated with travel, reimbursements, Gateway requisitions, FlexCard purchases, credit card sales, and other expense paperwork and management. Collects public donations and deposits. Collects and organizes paperwork associated with UC Regents and UCSB foundation gift accounts. In conjunction with the AASC Museum Finance Coordinator, initiates and monitors payments to all museum vendors. Handles gift funds, including gift acceptance to and transfers from UCSB Foundation accounts and assists the finance coordinator with the allocation of funds to proper UC Regents accounts. Works with the Museum Finance Coordinator to relay information regarding exhibition budgets in expenses. Assists in other special projects as needed.

15% Visitor Engagement - Keeps track of museum membership annual account status, including renewals, processing of membership dues, reciprocal admissions programs, and membership deliverables in conjunction with UCSB Office of Development. Develops and implements policies in coordination with other departments to ensure an informed and knowledgeable frontline staff with regard to exhibitions, the permanent collection, and all museum programming and events. Coordinates tours with on and off campus groups in conjunction with the Graduate Curator of Education and/or student-led docent tours. Coordinates with Graduate Curator of Education on campus outreach and student-only events such as Night at the Museum.
