Overview:
In this role, responsibilities will include management of the sales team, providing directional and operations support to all functional areas of the Mortgage Lending organization, leading a team of 75. This leader will have full accountability of the performance of mortgage and home loan equity portfolio and business performance. Key responsibilities include leading, establishing and maintaining the home lending department’s strategies, objectives, goals, and budget. This includes loan origination, new product and portfolio management development, secondary marketing, pricing, and loan servicing. The successful candidate will be a collaborative partner, possess high achievement drive and the proven ability to lead a business unit to high performance.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and execute the strategic vision for the Home Loans organization, aligning business objectives, operational priorities, and member experience initiatives with corporate goals and long-term enterprise strategy.

Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team that fosters a culture of accountability, operational excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and member-centric service.

Drive organizational performance across mortgage origination, fulfillment, and quality functions, ensuring sustainable growth, operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.

Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to measure productivity, quality, financial performance, capacity planning, and strategic outcomes.

Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, investor, and regulatory requirements governing mortgage lending and servicing activities, proactively responding to regulatory changes and emerging risks.

Maintain and strengthen relationships with strategic business partners to support organizational objectives and operational effectiveness.

Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality control and risk management framework that meets regulatory and organizational standards while promoting continuous process improvement.

Provide executive oversight of mortgage quality assurance, audit readiness, loan review practices, and remediation efforts to mitigate operational and compliance risk.

Partner with Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, Lending, and Executive Leadership to develop pricing, portfolio, and capital optimization strategies that support profitability and long-term growth.

Serve as the primary executive liaison for regulatory examinations, investor reviews, internal audits, and third-party assessments, ensuring timely resolution of findings and implementation of corrective actions.

Champion an exceptional member experience by resolving complex escalations, and driving initiatives that improve satisfaction, efficiency, and service quality.

Develop and maintain operational policies, governance standards, and business procedures that promote consistency, scalability, risk management, and regulatory compliance across all mortgage functions.

Leverage data analytics, operational reporting, and industry benchmarks to evaluate performance, identify opportunities for process improvement, and inform strategic decision-making.

Lead vendor management and oversight processes for mortgage-related service providers, ensuring performance expectations, contractual obligations, risk standards, and service-level agreements are achieved.

Present strategic recommendations, business performance updates, risk assessments, and operating results to Executive Leadership, Board committees, and other key stakeholders.

Serve as an active member and trusted advisor on committees such as Credit Risk, Asset Liability Management (ALCO), and other enterprise governance forums, contributing to organizational risk and growth strategies.

Sponsor and lead transformation initiatives focused on technology modernization, operational efficiency, automation, workforce planning, and process optimization.

Deep knowledge of residential mortgage lending, operations, and industry best practices.

Strong understanding of interest rate environments, balance sheet dynamics, and the impact of economic conditions on mortgage strategy and portfolio performance.

Expertise in Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and other investor selling and servicing requirements.

Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state mortgage lending and servicing regulations, including HMDA, RESPA, ECOA, Fair Credit Reporting Act, TRID/MDIA, Dodd-Frank, and related compliance obligations.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate financial performance, portfolio trends, pricing strategy, interest rate risk, and hedging considerations using quantitative and analytical approaches.

Qualifications:
- BA degree or equivalent experience.

10+ years’ experience in home lending or mortgage area are required
-
5+ years of senior management experience in home lending or mortgage for a regulated financial institution are required

3+ years’ experience delivering loans to the secondary market (ie. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) is required

5+ years’ experience developing home loan products is preferred
-
5+ years’ experience overseeing the origination of home loans is preferred
-
Proficient in PCs and MS applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

3+ years’ experience working with DU and web-based mortgage loan origination system is preferred

Ability to travel
Target Base Pay:
$240,000 - $260,000
