Full Job Description

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical oversight, direct nursing care, and health services coordination for individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs residing in Enhanced Behavioral Support Homes (EBSH). The RN ensures the delivery of safe, compassionate, and compliant healthcare in accordance with Title 22 and Title 17 regulations.

This position requires strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to provide both hands-on care and clinical supervision to staff across multiple residential sites. The RN collaborates closely with Program Administrators, physicians, consultants, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality, person-centered care and documentation compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight & Direct Care

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and monitor vitals, BMs, and overall health status.
Dispense and administer medications in accordance with physician orders and Title 22 regulations.
Maintain accurate, timely, and Title 22–compliant documentation in all medical records.
Provide wound care, chronic condition management, and emergency response as needed.
Support individuals in activities of daily living (nutrition, hygiene, mobility, communication, and condition prevention).
Implement and monitor infection control practices, line lists, and safety protocols.
Ensure timely and accurate Restricted Health Care Plans and Specialized Health Needs Plans are developed, reviewed, and submitted.

Management, Supervision & Coordination

Provide supervision and clinical guidance to LVNs and other assigned health professionals.
Coordinate and monitor all medical milestones, documentation, and regulatory deadlines.
Assist Program Administrators with the thorough, accurate, and timely updating of medical sections in quarterly and annual reports.
Oversee and maintain compliance with picture protocols, healthcare documentation standards, and internal audit systems.
Actively participate in IBST meetings and provide professional input on clinical supports.
Serve as a clinical liaison between residential staff, physicians, therapists, and outside agencies.
Maintain and monitor communication with Regional Center and other involved entities.

Staff Training & Support

Educate and mentor direct support staff on medication administration, infection control, and emergency procedures.
Conduct in-service training on restricted/special health conditions and best practice health topics.
Perform N95 fit testing in accordance with local and state mandates.
Support staff understanding of socio-cultural issues affecting care and communication.
Model professional and person-centered clinical practice across settings.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with Title 17, Title 22, DDS, and CCL regulations.
Participate in consumer admissions and conduct nursing intake assessments.
Complete and submit accurate reports, including SIRs and health sections of IBSP/ISP.
Monitor and report any changes in condition, medication issues, or incidents per protocol.
Accept PRN calls during assigned hours and coordinate physician approval as required.
Uphold confidentiality, client rights, and mandated reporting responsibilities.
Represent the agency professionally in all internal and external interactions.

Qualifications

Licensure: Current California RN license (Board of Registered Nursing).
Certifications: Current CPR/First Aid (or BLS), TB/health screening clearance, and DOJ/FBI background clearance.
Driver Requirements: Valid California Class C Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance. Must meet insurability requirements per EBSI policy.
Education: Nursing degree from an accredited program.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of licensed nursing experience required.
At least six (6) months experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs in residential settings strongly preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to manage clinical priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Competency in electronic documentation, Microsoft Word, email, and Internet-based applications.
Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, physicians, and families.
Commitment to equity, dignity, and culturally competent care.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs approximately 3–4 times per week.
Ability to perform facility-related tasks, errands, and household activities.
Ability to drive safely in heavy traffic and inclement weather.

Additional Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon:

Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
Being at least 21 years of age.
Verification of credentials, satisfactory health exam, and fingerprint clearance.
Maintaining current CPR/First Aid certification.
Adherence to EBSI’s Drug-Free Workplace, Abuse Reporting, Injury and Illness Prevention, and Confidentiality policies.
Compliance with EBSI’s Email, Privacy, and Technology Use Policies.
Successful completion of DOT testing (Class II/C license) if applicable.

Training Requirements

Completion of twenty (20) hours of continuing education annually.
Completion of Title 17/22–required training within designated timelines.
All EBSI direct employees must achieve RBT certification and DSP I & II within twelve months (unless exempt as an active Licensed Psychiatric Technician).
Lead staff must achieve RBT certification within 60 days of hire.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
