Full Job Description

In-Home Early Intervention & Developmental Assessments

Stars Therapy Services is seeking a Child Development Specialist to provide in-home early intervention services and developmental assessments for infants and toddlers under the age of 3.

This role supports children and families through California’s Early Start Program using a parent coaching model. Services are provided primarily in the family’s home and focus on helping parents and caregivers support their child’s development during everyday routines.

The position may include both ongoing early intervention sessions and developmental assessments using the Battelle Developmental Inventory in collaboration with a licensed therapist.

Responsibilities

Provide in-home early intervention sessions for infants and toddlers under the age of 3.
Use a parent coaching approach to support caregiver participation and carryover of developmental strategies.
Support development across cognitive, communication, motor, social-emotional, and adaptive areas.
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities based on child and family needs.
Observe child development and document progress toward developmental goals.
Complete session notes and required documentation within timelines.
Conduct or assist with in-home developmental assessments.
Administer, score, or support completion of the BDI-2, depending on training and assignment.
Complete clear, professional session notes, progress documentation, and written assessment reports within required timelines.
Collaborate with licensed therapists, supervisors, families, and service coordinators.
Travel between family homes throughout the assigned service area.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Human Development, Special Education, or related field.
Experience working with infants and toddlers under the age of 3.
Knowledge of early childhood development and developmental milestones.
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write objective observations, session notes, and assessment reports.
Comfortable working in family homes.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with parent coaching, naturalistic teaching, or routines-based intervention.
Experience administering or supporting the BDI-2.
Experience writing developmental observations, progress notes, reports, or other professional documentation.
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Experience working with children with developmental delays or disabilities.

Position Details

Full-time or flexible schedule options available.
In-home services and assessments throughout the assigned service area.
Mileage reimbursement available.
Must be able to travel between homes and carry light materials, including assessment materials.

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
