What You’ll Do
- Perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients
- Conduct technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams
- Coordinate with hospital departments for scheduling, patient transport, and billing
- Assist cardiologists during exams by preparing M-modes and exchanging pertinent information
- Manage echo supplies and maintain clean, organized exam rooms
- Log patients and exams; file patient records accurately
- Participate in departmental Performance Improvement activities
- Provide on-call coverage for emergency echo exams outside regular hours
- Maintain quality control of equipment and coordinate repairs as needed
- Stay current on advances in echocardiography; seek mentorship and training opportunities
- Support other cardiac procedures when necessary
What You Need
Required:
- A.R.D.M.S./CCI registration or registry eligible, or comparable accreditation
- New Mexico Echo Sonographer License
- BLS certification through American Heart Association
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years related health care experience
- Ability to work at a rapid pace and communicate effectively
- Strong organizational skills and manual dexterity
Preferred:
- Two or more years of echocardiogram experience
- Allied health education background (diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, RN, etc.)
