The Senior Manager, IT Systems Administrator will:
Provide strategic leadership, management, and direction for administrative and operational functions across organizations or programs;
Hold responsibility for overall success across multiple IT job families;
Oversee a moderate number of IT resources, staff, and contractors (typically 10-20 FTE);
Achieve organizational mission and goals through effective management of staff and/or managerial personnel.
How does it get done?
The Senior Manager, IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for:
The overall management, maintenance, and strategic direction of the Health Care Authority's (HCA) network, server, cloud, and endpoint infrastructure;
Providing advanced support and oversight for the HCA infrastructure environment;
Leading the planning, implementation, and continuously improving HCA's IT infrastructure to support current and future business needs;
Ensuring reliability, availability, security, and performance across network, server, cloud, and endpoint environments.
Managing day-to-day infrastructure operations, including system maintenance, lifecycle management, documentation, monitoring, and technical support;
Developing staffing strategies to ensure appropriate resourcing and technical expertise within the infrastructure team;
Overseeing budgeting, procurement, vendor management, and evaluation of technology investments;
Providing technical leadership for disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational planning initiatives;
Maintaining a strong security posture by ensuring physical, network, cloud, and system security controls meet organizational and regulatory requirements;
Managing and mentoring End User Support Technicians, Network Administrators, and Systems Administrators;
Overseeing administrative functions such as workforce planning, recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, scheduling, and professional development;
Collaborating with executive leadership and business stakeholders to align technology initiatives with agency strategic goals while delivering reliable, secure, and efficient IT services.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and eight (8) years of experience in systems administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience. At least four (4) years of which must be leading/supervising a systems administration team.
Employment Requirements
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
State office building location: Extensive sitting, some bending, walking, standing, reaching and use of computer (keyboard and monitor).
