The role of the NM Aging and Long-Term Services Department is to develop programs and public policies which foster the delivery of integrated programs and services to older persons, persons with disabilities, and caregivers, throughout New Mexico. The Department is charged with creating a seamless, comprehensive, efficient and cost-effective array of programs and services, which emphasize home and community-based long-term care, healthy and productive aging, economic security, protection of rights,
and prevention of abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Why does the job exist?
The position is responsible for coordinating the AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteer Programs and the Older American Act Title Ill programs that have major impact to all communities within New Mexico. This position will oversee Area Agency on Aging Planning and Service Area to administer, plan and support community-based services for individuals 60 and older, or age 55 and older.
The position is responsible for stimulating, promoting and integrating these programs into area agencies on aging and other contract organizations; providing technical assistance and training; conducting program assessments; developing program initiatives; and reviewing area agency on aging area plans; and may have responsibility for planning and implementing special studies and projects to improve and evaluate program services throughout the state. The position will facilitate substantive collaborations with directors of county agencies, nonprofit organizations, and senior staff within other State agencies; provide oversight and solicitation of contractors and supervise the submission of timely and accurate reporting to federal agencies and other grant funders.
How does it get done?
Contract management of the Older American Act (OAA)- Title III and AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteer Programs contract process.
1) Monitor fiscal and programmatic contract processes through the development, issuance and
assessing of the contract and execution of the award.
2) Provide fiscal and programmatic technical assistance to assure contractual compliance.
3) Evaluate Contractors for compliance with contract deliverables and complete contract amendments for assigned programs as needed.
4) Responsible for various federal and state data reporting requirements and contractor budgetary tracking.
5) Analyze and conduct ongoing assessment to assure programs and contract providers adhere to state and federal rules and
regulations.
6) Conduct monthly invoice and annual programmatic audits of assigned Contractors. If significant deficiencies, material weaknesses, or other findings exist, determine special conditions and work with contractor for
resolution, enforcing accountability, and imposing sanctions when necessary.
7) Work closely with Senior Services Bureau team and ALTSD Management to include one-on-one meetings, leading meetings, writing reports, providing technical assistance to internal and external customers, team building activities, group tasks and presentations, and contributing to program enhancements.
Establish and sustain strong collaborative relationships with staff and key leaders throughout the
ALTSD and with industry leaders throughout the state.
1) Collaborate with leadership and staff teams to ensure operational efficiency and to leverage new
opportunities.
2) Engage with all AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteer Programs and AAA Providers (Sub-Contractors) to
further integrate services and activities across the state.
3) Provide training and technical assistance to multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and multi-lingual
populations.
4) Participate with Department staff and Senior Services team in local and statewide overnight travel to Senior Centers, volunteer workstations, and public outreach events (outreach events may take place during the weekends).

Minimum Qualification
Associate's Degree and three (3) years of experience in program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within 90 days of employment.
Working Conditions
Working conditions (Example: Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25lbs.
