Responsibilities
- Provide unit-based leadership in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, Director, physicians, and staff; supervise nursing and ancillary personnel to ensure cost-effective, professional care and high patient safety.
- Direct and monitor nursing activities; initiate and coordinate care plans with the health care team; conduct conferences with patients and families to revise plans for optimal, individualized care.
- Make rounds to assess patient care needs, introduce self to patients and families, and solicit feedback on quality of nursing services; address patient and family concerns as they arise.
- Develop strategies with the Nurse Manager/Director to improve patient experience and outcomes; investigate and resolve patient care and operational issues; implement quality-improvement initiatives across the unit.
- Ensure staff adherence to documentation and care standards (EPIC experience required); follow trauma-centered protocols and participate in direct patient care as needed; support the unit’s trauma-focused care delivery.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California) – required
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience: Minimum of two years of recent nursing experience; two+ years of charge/lead supervisory experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required; EPIC experience required
- Other: Ability to work in a trauma center environment; clinical leadership and supervisory skills as described
