Patent Licensing & Transactions Attorney (Computer Science / Electrical Engineering) (On-Site / Full-Time)

Latitude is seeking a Patent Licensing & Transactions Attorney for a permanent placement opportunity with a well-established and growing Southern California intellectual property boutique. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who enjoys combining sophisticated intellectual property strategy with business development, licensing negotiations, and high-value commercial transactions.

The successful attorney will play a central role in managing and expanding patent licensing programs for innovative technology companies and leading research universities. Working directly with prospective licensees, clients, and technical professionals, this attorney will help develop licensing strategy, prepare evidence of use analyses, negotiate licensing agreements, and drive complex intellectual property transactions from initial evaluation through successful resolution. This is a highly visible position offering significant client interaction, autonomy, and the opportunity to help shape and grow an expanding patent licensing practice. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Pasadena, California.

Basic Requirements for the Patent Licensing & Transactions Attorney

5+ years of experience handling patent licensing, intellectual property transactions, technology licensing, or comparable intellectual property matters
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
Demonstrated experience negotiating and closing patent licensing transactions
Experience preparing, reviewing, or utilizing Evidence of Use (EOU) claim charts
Experience with reverse engineering investigations and technical analysis supporting patent licensing efforts
Ability to analyze and clearly communicate complex technical concepts to legal and business audiences
Excellent analytical, written, verbal, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills
Outstanding professional references

Responsibilities of the Patent Licensing & Transactions Attorney

Lead communications and negotiations with prospective licensees across multiple patent licensing programs
Prepare, review, and present Evidence of Use (EOU) claim charts supporting licensing initiatives
Conduct and oversee reverse engineering investigations and technical analyses, including internet and network traffic evaluations
Structure, negotiate, and help close sophisticated patent licensing transactions
Collaborate with attorneys, engineers, and technical professionals to develop effective licensing strategies
Advise clients regarding patent portfolio monetization and licensing opportunities
Support the continued growth and expansion of the firm’s licensing practice through exceptional client service and strategic legal counsel

Compensation

Pay: The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $220,000+, depending upon experience, qualifications, technical background, licensing experience, and overall fit. This position is also eligible for bonus opportunities. Pay is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, work experience, qualifications, credentials, technical expertise, and location.
