In-Process QC Inspector

Stainless Process Systems – 1650 Beacon Place, Oxnard, CA

BACKGROUND:

Stainless Process Systems (www.stainlessprocesssystems.com) is a rapidly growing ASME equipment manufacturer that engineers and builds precision vessels for the Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Aerospace, and Food and Beverage industries. SPS fabricates stainless steel equipment both as an OEM and custom (based upon our design) equipment supplier to domestic and global customers. SPS provides engineering servicesto ASME standards for the highest quality fabrication or repair of pressure vessels, technical processing equipment and non-rated tanks.

THE ROLE:

As a Stainless Process Systems In-Process QC Inspector, you monitor factory operations related to ASME welding, to verify compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. You will inspect welded subassemblies and assemblies at designated points in the manufacturing process. You coordinate with outside ASME inspector(s) and documents review and approval of welded subassemblies and assemblies. You will maintain documentation of inspection results and partner with the Quality Manager to oversee inspection of incoming materials to ensure compliance with ASME and/or Quality Management System requirements. You will prepare and maintain inspection reports & calibration records. Working closely with the manufacturing team, engineering, vendors and office staff, you will review quality problems and ensure problem-free production manufacturing throughput. You will identify the root cause of defect or reject trends and review these rejects and defect trends with the Quality Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Perform visual and mechanical inspection of stainless steel products such as precision vessels, tanks, and filter housings in accordance with the customer drawing or engineering blueprint and testing the mechanical function of the equipment design

● Monitor factory operations related to ASME welding, to verify compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

● Inspect welded subassemblies and assemblies at designated points of the manufacturing process. Must have experience with weld procedures, symbols and understand how to inspect proper welds.

● Maintain documentation of inspection results.

● Oversee inspection of incoming materials to ensure compliance with ASME and/or Quality Management System requirements.

● Prepare and maintain inspection reports & calibration records.

● Work closely with manufacturing team, engineering, vendors and office staff to review quality problems and insure problem-free production manufacturing throughput.

● Support the Quality department in performing its function to exceed customer expectations for quality and delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

● Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering or technical degree from four-year college or university and or equivalent manufacturing/quality experience.

● 4+ years of experience in Quality systems, programs, audits and procedures.

● 4+ years in the fabrication and / or manufacturing industries.

● In depth knowledge of ASME and AWS codes

● Certified with ASME inspection process - incoming inspection, material certification and marking requirements, in-process inspection, hydrostatic testing, and maintenance of records.

● Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, especially weld symbols

● Ability to read and use measurement instruments, including pressure gauges, calipers, micrometers, and weld reinforcement gauges.

● Ability to calculate figures and to verify completeness and accuracy of the information recorded.

● Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and understand basic graphs.

● Familiar with continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and Six Sigma and ISO 9001 practices

● Experience working on cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, design and project management teams.

● Possess a craftsman’s eye for cosmetically pleasing equipment to meet our customers’ high expectations.

● Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, engineering clients, and customers regarding testing procedures and results to resolve problems.

● Must be a self-starter who has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

● Proficient in relevant software, working within ERP Systems, must be highly proficient in Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

● Knowledge of ASME Section VIII Division 1 pressure vessel code.

● Experience with welding and joint design of stainless steel, process piping and/or other AWS, BPE code specifications.
