Position Summary
The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring Prodigy Pest Solutions has accurate, timely, and actionable financial information that enables leadership to make informed business decisions while building scalable financial processes that support the company's continued growth.
Reporting to the Director of Administration or other designated leader, this position oversees the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including financial reporting, accounting operations, month-end close, and process improvement. Working closely with the Bookkeeper, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and leadership, the Finance Manager will strengthen financial visibility, improve operational efficiency, and help build the financial foundation of a growing organization.
This is a growth-focused position designed for an accounting professional who wants to expand beyond traditional accounting responsibilities into financial management, business partnership, and continuous improvement. As Prodigy grows, this role is expected to develop into a Controller position.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accuracy
- Prepare accurate monthly Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and supporting financial reports.
- Lead the monthly close process with a goal of delivering complete financial statements within five business days.
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger in partnership with the Bookkeeper.
- Perform account reconciliations and ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and timely.
- Present monthly financial results and explain budget variances, trends, and key financial insights to leadership.
Financial Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the business.
- Partner with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to improve financial workflows, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor cash flow, AR aging, collections, and vendor payment activity while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate with the outside CPA on tax preparation, year-end reporting, audits, and regulatory requirements.
Financial Process Improvement
- Evaluate existing financial processes and implement approved improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
- Develop scalable financial procedures, internal controls, and documentation that support company growth.
- Create and maintain financial dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools that provide leadership with meaningful business insights.
- Support the continued implementation of EOS processes within the Finance function.
Financial Business Partnership
- Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets and provide meaningful variance analysis.
- Recommend cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
- Analyze financial trends, profitability, and key performance indicators to support leadership decision-making.
- Participate in Level 10 Meetings, quarterly planning sessions, Rocks, and other leadership initiatives by providing accurate financial insight.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with exceptional integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience supporting a growing small or mid-sized business.
- Experience improving financial processes and workflows.
- Experience with ADP or similar payroll platforms.
Success in This Role
Success will be measured by the ability to:
- Deliver accurate monthly financial statements within five business days.
- Improve the efficiency and accuracy of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
- Maintain accurate financial reporting that leadership can confidently rely upon.
- Reduce accounting errors through strong internal controls and process improvements.
- Monitor and improve key financial metrics, including AR Aging, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), invoice accuracy, AP processing time, collections rate, and month-end close performance.
- Become a trusted business partner by providing meaningful financial analysis, identifying trends, and recommending practical improvements.
- Help build a scalable Finance function capable of supporting Prodigy's long-term growth.
