Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced, client facing, detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our team in either our Sarasota or Bradenton office. Our firm has a high volume of small business clients and individual returns and has been in business since 1995. Our longest tenured employee started in 1996. We believe in longevity.

The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a comprehensive understanding of tax regulations and accounting principles, especially as they impact small businesses and their owners. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with tax laws while providing valuable insights into financial strategies. The Tax Accountant will work closely with clients and internal teams to prepare and review tax returns, review account reconciliations and ledger work completed by bookkeepers, and assist in financial reporting. The Tax Accountant will meet with clients, as needed, to explain the return and the financial performance of their business.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Meet with clients and explain financial statements and tax returns.
Thoroughly review account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with team and clients to gather necessary documentation for tax filings.
Provide guidance on tax planning strategies to optimize financial outcomes.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Stay updated on changes in tax legislation that may impact clients' financial situations.
Work with team to raise all members impact on client needs.

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or CPA strongly preferred, but experience matters most.
Proven experience as a Tax Accountant.
Microsoft Office
Strong understanding of financial concepts including budgeting, asset management, and technical accounting.
Proficiency in financial software and tools for tax preparation and accounting tasks.
Familiarity with debits, credits, and overall financial accounting practices.
Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
