Sales Manager | Yoder Homes
Yoder Homes is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and develop the company’s Sales department across all residential sales channels, including remodels, custom homes, semi-custom homes, and our affordable living home series.
This role is responsible for leading the front-end sales process, managing sales team performance, improving lead response, strengthening client qualification, creating consistent sales standards, and helping build a scalable sales structure that supports company growth.
The Sales Manager will oversee the Sales department while also working directly with prospective clients during the continued buildout of the department. This includes handling new client opportunities, guiding clients through the early decision-making process, setting clear expectations, and moving qualified opportunities toward the appropriate next step in the Yoder Homes process.
This is a leadership-track position for someone who can bring speed, alignment, process discipline, and accountability to the Sales function.
About Yoder Homes
Yoder Homes is a Sarasota-based residential construction company specializing in luxury custom homes, semi-custom homes, remodels, additions, and scalable residential housing solutions.
Our company is built around craftsmanship, professionalism, strong client relationships, disciplined systems, and a people-first culture. As Yoder Homes continues to grow, we are strengthening our Sales department to support a more structured, consistent, and scalable operating model while maintaining the quality and client care our brand is known for.
About the Role
The Sales Manager is responsible for managing the Sales department and the front-end client pathway from initial lead through the appropriate sales conversion point. Depending on the project type, this may include a remodel proposal, custom home design agreement, semi-custom home pathway, affordable living home package, or another approved company sales process.
This role requires someone who can lead people, manage process, work directly with clients, coordinate across departments, and create accountability around lead response, follow-up, qualification, documentation, and handoff.
The Sales Manager must be able to move quickly while keeping the team aligned. The right person will understand that sales speed matters, but only when paired with accuracy, clear expectations, proper documentation, and strong internal coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Sales department across remodels, custom homes, semi-custom homes, and affordable living home opportunities.
Create consistency in how leads are received, qualified, followed up on, documented, and advanced.
Respond quickly and professionally to prospective clients when directly managing an opportunity.
Oversee sales-related team members and help establish clear expectations for performance, follow-up, client communication, documentation, and accountability.
Conduct initial discovery calls and consultations with prospective clients.
Meet with clients in the office, on-site at their property, virtually, or at another approved location.
Assess client goals, project type, property status, budget expectations, timeline expectations, decision-making readiness, and overall fit.
Help determine the proper sales pathway for each opportunity, including remodel, custom home, semi-custom home, affordable living home series, or referral to another internal process.
Educate prospective clients on the appropriate Yoder Homes process based on project type.
Provide preliminary guidance on scope, budget range, schedule expectations, feasibility, and next steps.
Coordinate with Pre-Construction, Estimating, Purchasing, Design, Finance, Marketing, and Construction Operations as needed.
Ensure sales conversations do not create unrealistic expectations, unclear commitments, or downstream issues for Pre-Construction or Operations.
Guide qualified opportunities toward the correct next step, including proposal, design agreement, pricing review, internal evaluation, or handoff.
Maintain accurate lead notes, status updates, follow-up tasks, client information, and opportunity details in Buildertrend or the approved company system.
Monitor sales pipeline activity, lead status, conversion points, and upcoming opportunities.
Identify process gaps, communication breakdowns, and recurring sales-to-operations friction points.
Help build a repeatable Sales department structure that can scale beyond one individual.
Train, support, and hold sales team members accountable as the department grows.
Work with Marketing to evaluate lead sources, campaign quality, messaging, and client fit.
Support leadership with sales reporting, pipeline visibility, and recommendations for department improvement.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who can lead a Sales department, not just sell individual projects.
The ideal candidate is fast-moving, organized, professional, process-driven, and capable of creating alignment between clients, Sales, Marketing, Pre-Construction, Estimating, Purchasing, Finance, and Operations.
This person should be comfortable working with multiple project types, including remodels, custom homes, semi-custom homes, and more standardized home offerings. They should be able to understand the differences between each sales pathway while still creating one consistent sales culture and operating structure.
The right candidate will know how to lead with urgency without creating chaos. They will follow up quickly, ask strong questions, qualify opportunities carefully, document clearly, and ensure clients understand the process before moving forward.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Sales, Marketing, Real Estate, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent professional experience in residential construction, new home sales, remodel sales, production homebuilding, custom homebuilding, pre-construction, estimating, real estate, or a closely related field may be considered in place of a degree.
Experience in residential construction sales, homebuilding sales, remodeling sales, or construction-related client management is strongly preferred.
Experience managing or helping build a sales team is preferred.
Required Qualifications
Experience in residential construction, homebuilding, remodel sales, custom home sales, production home sales, real estate development, construction sales, pre-construction, estimating, or a related field.
Strong understanding of residential construction processes, budgets, timelines, client expectations, and sales conversion points.
Ability to manage multiple sales channels, including remodels, custom homes, semi-custom homes, and standardized home offerings.
Excellent client-facing communication skills.
Strong leadership, organization, urgency, and follow-through.
Ability to qualify opportunities and identify project fit.
Ability to manage multiple leads and opportunities at different stages.
Ability to explain construction concepts, budgets, schedules, and next steps clearly and professionally.
Ability to document communication, notes, follow-up tasks, and opportunity status accurately.
Comfort working with Buildertrend, CRM systems, spreadsheets, email, and project documentation tools.
Ability to coordinate across departments and maintain alignment before commitments are made.
Professional judgment and the ability to protect both the client experience and the company’s interests.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a growing or scaling residential construction company.
Experience with luxury residential construction, semi-custom homebuilding, production-style residential systems, or remodel sales.
Knowledge of Sarasota, Manatee County, and Gulf Coast residential construction practices.
Familiarity with local permitting, zoning, flood zone considerations, coastal construction, FEMA considerations, sitework constraints, and residential building requirements.
Experience with Buildertrend or another construction management platform.
Experience developing sales processes, lead management systems, follow-up cadences, qualification tools, reporting structures, or sales team accountability standards.
Experience leading sales coordinators, new home sales representatives, remodel sales team members, online sales coordinators, or similar roles.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a sales leader with construction knowledge, operational awareness, and the ability to build systems.
They are not just focused on closing the next opportunity. They understand that the way a project is sold affects client expectations, internal workload, margin, schedule, and project success.
They are comfortable leading a team, working directly with clients, improving process, and holding people accountable. They can move quickly without skipping steps. They know how to create alignment between what the client wants, what the company can deliver, and what the internal team needs in order to execute well.
They are polished, confident, organized, accountable, and capable of growing with the company as the Sales department expands.
