The Savannah Country Day School seeks an individual to serve as Upper School Soccer Goalkeeping Coach. This role is a part-time, seasonal position, coaching student athletes for pre-season training and during the Soccer competitive season. The Goalkeeping Coach will work closely with the Head Soccer Coach to provide specialized instruction to goalkeepers, develop technical and tactical skills, and contribute to a positive, competitive, and team-oriented environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the goalkeeper position, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in working with student-athletes in a school-based athletic program.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
· Provide specialized instruction and training for goalkeepers, including technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of the position.
· Plan and lead goalkeeper-specific drills and training sessions in coordination with the Head Soccer Coach.
· Develop student-athletes’ skills in areas including positioning, footwork, handling, distribution, communication, decision-making, and shot stopping.
· Provide individualized constructive feedback and instruction to help facilitate growth and improvement.
· Assist with team practices, match preparation, and game-day responsibilities as needed.
· Work collaboratively with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and other members of the coaching staff to support the overall goals of the soccer program.
· Fostering a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and discipline.
· Serving as a role model to student athletes, providing guidance and mentorship, promoting academic success, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
· Communicating effectively with players, parents, school administration, and the community to build support for the team.
· Follow all school policies, athletic department procedures, and applicable safety guidelines.
· Attend practices, games, and other required team activities as scheduled.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
Requirements:
· Previous experience playing and/or coaching soccer, with demonstrated expertise as a goalkeeper.
· Strong understanding of goalkeeper techniques, tactics, and training methods.
· Experience working with middle or high school-aged athletes preferred.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively with students, parents, faculty and staff.
· Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential is essential.
· Commitment to upholding the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and teamwork is a must.
· Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team.
· Must successfully complete all required school background checks and employment requirements. Valid Driver’s License and insurability required.
· Attendance at evening and weekend functions is required.

Physical Demands:
This position involves routine physical activity, with regular bending/reaching, pushing/pulling, stooping, and crouching. Also requires intermittent sitting, standing, and walking in various settings. Occasional running or brief strenuous activity may be required to demonstrate or aid in student training. Work is typically performed in campus buildings and outdoors, where the employee is occasionally exposed to heat, cold, or inclement weather. The employee carries light to medium weight objects, up to 50 pounds.
