General Summary:
The REACH Workbased Learning Teacher is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing career readiness, internship, work-based learning, and workforce partnership opportunities for high school students. This position serves as the liaison between the school, local businesses, community organizations, students, and families to ensure students gain meaningful career exposure and hands-on professional experience aligned with graduation requirements and postsecondary goals. The Work Experience Teacher supports student success through career planning, employability skill development, placement monitoring, and compliance with applicable state and federal requirements related to work-based learning programs.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and coordinate student work-based learning opportunities, internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, and career exploration activities.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local employers, businesses, community organizations, and industry representatives throughout the Savannah area.
- Recruit, evaluate, and approve worksite placements for students.
- Match students with appropriate work experience opportunities based on career interests, skills, and academic standing.
- Conduct worksite visits to monitor student progress, employer satisfaction, and program compliance.
- Maintain accurate student records, training agreements, evaluations, timesheets, and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), federal labor laws, and school policies related to student employment and work-based learning.
- Provide students with instruction and guidance related to employability skills, workplace expectations, resume writing, interviewing, communication, and professionalism.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, teachers, and families to support student career and post-secondary planning.
- Coordinate career fairs, guest speakers, employer presentations, and workforce development events.
- Track and report program participation data, outcomes, and student performance metrics.
- Support students in resolving workplace concerns or challenges as needed.
- Promote equitable access to career readiness and work-based learning opportunities for all students.
- Attend professional development, trainings, and community partnership meetings assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by administration.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of career readiness, workforce development, and work-based learning practices.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and community partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information appropriately.
- Knowledge of Georgia Work-Based Learning guidelines and GaDOE requirements.
- Familiarity with student information systems and career readiness platforms.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Business Administration, Counseling, Workforce Development, or a related field.
- Preferred minimum of two (2) years of experience in education, workforce development, career counseling, student services, recruiting, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel and worksite visits.
- Ability to successfully pass required background checks and clearance requirements for employment.
- Preferred experience developing employer or community partnerships.
- Preferred experience coordinating internships, apprenticeships, or career pathway programs.
- Preferred experience working in a high school or charter school environment.
- Teaching certification, counseling certification, or Work-Based Learning endorsement preferred.
Pay: $46,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
