About the Role:
The Workforce Readiness Instructor delivers structured, school-based instruction designed to prepare students with disabilities for successful transition into adulthood. Working directly within partner school systems, this role develops and facilitates engaging curriculum that promotes career exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, and essential life skills.
Through interactive lessons, real-world exposure, and individualized guidance, the Workforce Readiness Instructor helps students build confidence, identify strengths, and explore meaningful pathways for life after high school. This position collaborates closely with educators, transition teams, and community partners to support student growth while ensuring services are delivered with professionalism, creativity, and measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Development:
1. Design, prepare, and deliver structured curriculum aligned with Career Readiness and Pre-Employment Transition Services requirements.
2. Develop lesson plans, presentations, and experiential learning activities that promote workplace readiness, independence, and future planning.
3. Adapt instructional approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and support needs.
Classroom Facilitation & Student Engagement:
1. Provide dynamic, in-person instruction within school settings that encourages participation and skill development.
2. Foster an inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported, respected, and empowered.
3. Reinforce professional behaviors such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management.
Career Exploration & Real-World Exposure:
1. Facilitate industry tours, guest speakers, and career exploration opportunities that broaden student awareness of post-school pathways.
2. Guide students through interest inventories and career assessments.
3. Support pre-employment skill development, including resume building and interview preparation.
School Partnership & Transition Collaboration:
1. Partner with educators, transition coordinators, and school staff to align services with student goals.
2. Provide relevant input that supports transition planning and post-secondary readiness.
3. Maintain strong, professional relationships within partner schools.
Program Quality & Accountability:
1. Deliver services with consistency, organization, and attention to measurable outcomes.
2. Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with program requirements.
3. Contribute to continuous program improvement through feedback and innovation.
Professional Representation:
1. Represent the organization with professionalism in school and community environments.
2. Serve as a positive ambassador for Career Readiness programming and the Workforce Development division.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
2. Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or experience facilitating group activities, programs, or educational environments.
3. Must have valid driver’s license and current insurance.
4. Ability to pass required background screenings.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
2. Experience in transition services, workforce programs, education, school systems, or vocational rehabilitation.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to move throughout program sites and community locations to monitor services and support participants.
2. Must be able to provide physical assistance to participants as needed, including supporting mobility, transfers, or safety interventions.
3. Must be able to operate agency vehicles or safely transport participants when required.
4. Must be able to respond appropriately and effectively during emergencies or behavioral situations.
5. Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on participant and program needs, which may include evenings or weekends.

Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime compensation.
