Position Title: Youth Development Coordinator

Position Summary
The Youth Development Coordinator plays a pivotal role in executing the Positive Peer Influencer (PPI) Program. This position leverages expertise in conflict resolution, communication, and youth education to empower high school students to become effective mentors and educators for middle school audiences. The Coordinator is responsible for cultivating leadership among high schoolers, managing critical school district relationships, and ensuring the program effectively promotes substance abuse prevention and overall student well-being.
Key Responsibilities
1. Curriculum Delivery & High School Student Training
- Facilitate Leader Training: Conduct comprehensive, interactive training sessions for high school students to prepare them to become Positive Peer Influencers.
- Equip Student Mentors: Teach high schoolers how to deliver presentations, engage younger demographics, and handle challenging questions or scenarios during their sessions.
- Skill Instruction: Train high school students in core competencies including decision-making strategies, peer pressure refusal techniques, effective communication skills, and conflict resolution.
- Mentorship: Provide ongoing support, guidance, and mentorship to high school students throughout their programmatic tenure.
2. Program Coordination & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Logistical Management: Partner with CNT, SCCPSS, and school-based PPI Coordinators to manage day-to-day program logistics.
- Scheduling & Event Management: Organize and schedule student training sessions and middle school presentation events to ensure smooth implementation.
- Resource Distribution: Supply high school influencers with required educational tools, including role-playing scenarios, interactive activities, and visual aids.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation & Quality Assurance
- Feedback Collection: Systematically gather feedback from high school influencers, middle school participants, school administrators, and PPI Coordinators.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor overall program progress and utilize collected data to assist in refining curriculum content and delivery methods.
- Holistic Wellness Promotion: Ensure the training and presentations effectively address substance abuse prevention while actively fostering healthy relationships and positive student behaviors.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Youth Programs team and the overall mission of the Mediation Center.
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Background in Youth Development, Education, Social Work, Conflict Resolution, or a closely related field.
Youth Facilitation: Proven experience training or mentoring high school-aged youth, with the ability to keep educational content engaging and impactful.
Subject Matter Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in effective communication, youth decision-making, and conflict resolution techniques.
Coordination Skills: Excellent organizational skills with experience managing logistics and schedules across multiple institutional stakeholders (e.g., school districts).
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate seamlessly with school administrators, community partners, and diverse student populations.
Working Conditions
- Primarily in-office with regular community and school-based engagement
- Occasional evening or weekend work for events and programs
- Local travel required
Compensation
Salary Range: $52,000 - $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and demonstrated leadership capacity, in alignment with the organization’s salary band structure for Coordinator roles.
