Full Job Description

Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System (SBHS) is seeking qualified professional Patient Accounts Representatives with hospital billing experience to join our dynamic team.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of one year billing experience in a medical setting is required, hospital & psychiatric experience is preferred. Familiarity with UB billing requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Billing and collection of all patient accounts from admission to discharge and final resolution. Other duties may include insurance verification, cash posting.

Job Description:

Analyzes unresolved accounts for issues related to authorization, accuracy of insurance information, adherence to billing standards, delayed claims, and accuracy of posting information. Identifies and process eligibility issues to resolve recurring problems that delay the submission/resolution of an accurate bill. Takes appropriate action to resolve issues, including arranging rebills, submitting appeals, or requesting adjustments.
Notates accounts in patient accounting systems.
Utilizes work queues and adheres to productivity standards.
Cross trains for other departmental duties.
Helps ensure that maximum reimbursement is received in a timely manner.
Adheres to Service Excellence values and maintains strict compliance with privacy and security regulations.
Other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience with healthcare claims, hospital experience preferred
Knowledge of basic healthcare business office functions (Insurance & data verification, cash posting, reconciliation, census reporting, billing/collections)
Knowledge of governmental and commercial payers billing, payments, explanation of benefits, denials/appeals/disputes, etc.
Knowledge of credit, collections, and confidentiality laws
Strong basic math skills
Strong attention to detail
Time management & multi-tasking abilities
Reliable and self-motivated
