Full Job Description

Typist

Transportation Department

8 hrs/day, 12 mos/year, Group C

Shenendehowa Central School District has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications. The District is seeking culturally proficient individuals who actively foster an engaging environment where students can develop confidence in their own success consistent with the Shenendehowa Profiles.

Job Responsibilities

The position provides high level clerical support to the Assistant Director of Transportation and staff members, such responsibilities include:

Communicating with staff, students, and parents in a responsible, respectful, and timely manner;
Preparing correspondence, answering phones, and greeting visitors;
Serves as a critical backup for sensitive tasks including processing referrals, reviewing school bus video footage, managing complex feedback/complaints, addressing student issues while maintaining accurate records across multiple systems;
Sorting and distributing mail;
Working collaboratively in an efficient, productive and positive manner with office staff;
Managing time to accurately complete a variety of tasks and projects with varying deadlines in a fast-paced office environment;
Maintaining various types of records in multiple systems with ability to product reports;
Coordinating and scheduling candidate interviews and preparing paperwork to support the hiring process; and additional responsibilities as required.

Compensation & Benefits

Step 1 ($22.44/hr) - Step 7 ($29.18/hr)

Certifications/Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and 2 years office experience with aptitude for learning new technology. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Exhibit good judgment, mental alertness, tact and courtesy. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. Strong computer skills with aptitude for learning new software technology required. Experience with a variety of computer software applications, preferred.
