Duties and Responsibilities:
1. *Serves as a point of contact for physicians looking to relocate to or find employment in Hawaii.
2. *Attends job fairs and meetings with medical group physician recruiters and potential recruits. Organize career panels for learning about jobs in Hawaii.
3. *Conducts presentations on practice in Hawaii to interested groups (medical students and residents) and at conferences across Hawaii and the United States.
4. * Develops and maintains relationships with physician candidates, employers and organizations offering resources to physicians.
5. * Connects recruiters and practice owners to physicians in training; Connects potential physician candidates to employers/practices in need.
6. * Updates DocJobs site on the Hawaii and Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center (AHEC) website with new job opportunities. Conducts regular web searches on various sites, such as professional networking boards, hospital websites, etc. for new job openings to document as many Hawaii openings as possible. Contacts recruiters for opportunities and post on DocJob site.
7. *Promotes local employment and practice opportunities by creating job postings for local practices, posting on DocJobs, and sharing the information with potential candidates.
8. * Creates and maintains recruitment materials for various sources such as the Internet, email marketing, mail flyers, videos, and social media.
9. * Conducts web searches for recruitment incentives for potential physicians. Reviews literature pertaining to physician recruitment and retention to create ideas for potential relocation to Hawaii.
10. * Assists the Director with research & writing grants for physician incentive programs.
11. * Creates and coordinates young physicians club to bring physicians together for networking activities.
12. *Assists the Director with creating a mentor program for physicians that would include developing incentives for mentors, recruiting mentors, and then matching the mentors with mentees based on mutual interests and location.
13. Assists the Director with physician loan repayment programs which will include: processing payments for loan repayers; keeping documentation of repayment amounts paid out quarterly on a spreadsheet; confirming work status with employers monthly for active loan repayers; collecting and processing applications for review by Director; updating loan repayer lists; and submitting monthly progress updates to the Health Resources and Services Administration and annual progress updates to the Director for review.
14. * Assists with focus groups, survey, and interviews of employers, practices and physicians as needed. Assists with the development and creation of surveys and evaluations for AHEC programs.
15. * Maintains documentation and/or presents at partnership and committee meetings, conferences, workshops, and other collaborative activities on the progress of health workforce in Hawaii.
16. Assists with maintaining physician workforce database using a database management system.
17. Collects data on physician demographics for AHEC reports. Develops, maintains, and contributes to AHEC¿s workforce presentations and research projects using geographic information system (GIS) software to create visual demographics.
18. Assists with the planning of the annual Physician¿s Workforce Summit, which includes scheduling of guest speakers and coordinating travel logistics for neighbor island attendees, as needed.
19. Assists with student travel and connectivity to physicians in Hawaii communities.
20. Manages P-card usage to facilitate departmental purchases. Maintains appropriate support documentation and submits reports as required.
21. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Possession of baccalaureate degree in Education, Health Education, Public Health, Business or related field and 0 years (s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for health sciences education and/or research; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicted.
2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in health sciences education and/or research demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with health sciences education and/or research.
4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the health sciences education and/or research.
5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software, and Microsoft Suite.
8. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
9. Ability to use geographic information system (GIS) software.
10. Ability to use database management software.
11. Working knowledge in creating visual demographics with geographic data.
12. Ability to work outside of normal work hours, which may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
13. Ability to travel independently in a timely and efficient manner to various locations within the State of Hawaii and out-of-state.
Desirable Qualifications
1. Experience in the field of medicine, health education, or research.
2. Working knowledge and understanding of underserved, rural communities.
3. Working knowledge of physician recruitment networks and health agency networks.
4. Experience analyzing employment workforce data.
