Full Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare general ledger, job-cost trackingmonthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain accurate work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP.
Oversee daily accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, payroll.
Coordinate annual audits, bonding requirements, and banking relationships.
Manage cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting processes.

Union Payroll & Compliance

Oversee weekly certified payroll for union employees.
Ensure accurate reporting and payment of union benefits, dues, and fringe contributions.
Stay current on collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) affecting wages, classifications, and benefits.
Comply with prevailing wage, certified payroll.

Job Costing & Project Support

Maintain accurate job cost reports and monitor project profitability.
Work with PMs to track change orders, billings, retainage, and closeout documentation.
Support project managers with budgeting, forecasting, and cost-to-complete analysis.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

Implement and maintain strong internal controls for purchasing, inventory, and subcontracting, with assistance.
Review and refine accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Manage and mentor accounting staff.

Regulatory & Risk Management

Oversee insurance audits (workers’ comp, general liability).
Ensure compliance with state/federal tax regulations.
Support safety and HR with compliance documentation as needed.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience in contracting industry.
Strong understanding of union payroll and certified payroll requirements.
Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Spectrum, CF Data, Vista, QuickBooks Enterprise Contractor, Sage 300).
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
Ability to work on-site.
