Full Job Description

For over seven decades investor-owned utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and others have entrusted their electrical construction and maintenance needs to Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. (Elliot).

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, engineering, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services.

Job Description

Walk right of ways various terrain in potentially adverse conditions to patrol distribution line damage
Carry and handle telescopic measuring stick and switching stick that weigh approximately 11 lbs.
May be required to use a brush axe or machete to clear brush for walking and staking during survey work
Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary
Applies technical knowledge and experience in resolving problems encountered in assigned work
Uses initiative in looking for opportunities to improve the process and increase job knowledge/technical skills
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with other employees and customers
Assists in the preparation of technical reports and papers.
Develops decision making skills based on job knowledge.

Qualifications

High School Diploma plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience
Or an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering Technology
Gain knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations relevant to distribution utility line construction.
Gain knowledge with pertinent equipment, material, systems, and business processes
Possess basic computer literacy skills.
Perform work activities as assigned with coaching from more experienced employees.
Valid Driver's License and Safe Driving Record required.
