Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:

Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Head Start, and Child Development Center.

Clinical Health Services: Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.

Job Title: Food Programs Coordinator
Reports to: Community Health Services Director
Areas of Responsibility: The Food Programs Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and day-to-day operation of Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska’s (CAPWN) Food Pantry and Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). This position ensures that food assistance services are provided efficiently, respectfully, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, funding-source, and agency requirements.
Major Duties:

Coordinate the daily operations of CAPWN's Food Pantry and Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), including ordering of food, food deliveries, sanitation, monthly stock rotation, and proper disposal of damaged inventory.

Ensure all food deliveries are inspected, documented, properly stored, and rotated promptly; maintains clear aisles and designated storage areas; ensures older inventory is distributed before newer inventory when appropriate; and conducts routine physical inventory counts to reconcile actual inventory with program records.

Ensure CSFP participant eligibility, certification, recertification, distribution, and documentation requirements are completed accurately and within required timelines.

Coordinate the purchase of supplemental food and supplies in accordance with approved budgets and CAPWN purchasing procedures.

Monitor CSFP caseload and participation levels and conduct outreach to eligible individuals when needed. Enter and maintain participant, inventory, distribution, and other program data in required electronic and/or paper systems.

Coordinate and supervise monthly CSFP food package preparation and distribution, ensuring CSFP food packages contain the required commodities and that substitutions or changes are made only as permitted by program requirements.

Develop and maintain relationships with grocery stores, food banks, community organizations, donors, and other partners to increase available food resources.

Coordinate and develop CSFP satellite clinic sites and home-based delivery efforts.

Operate warehouse equipment, including forklift and pallet jack, in appropriate and safe manner.

Maintain confidentiality of program participants.

Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable USDA, CSFP, State of Nebraska, funding-source, and CAPWN policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:

75% Warehouse work, 10% community interaction, 10% paperwork and reports, 5% training and meetings.

Frequent travel to satellite sites.
Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
Grade: 3

High School diploma or equivalent.

Two years of inventory management duties or client certification experience preferred.

Position requires proficient oral and written communication.

Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel.

Age 21 or older with a valid driver's license, good driving record and proof of insurance.

Able to travel outside of service area.

Must be able to operate a forklift and obtain forklift certification within 3 months.
