ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
Assists the Program Director in developing, conducting, coordinating, and evaluating the clinical education program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises student clinical rotations by coordinating experience with site, Clinical Instructor, and student.
- Develops, conducts, coordinates, and evaluates all aspects of the clinical education program, student clinical experience, and clinical outcomes.
- Utilizes assessment outcomes and feedback to recommend changes related to the clinical education program and PTA curriculum.
- Performs teaching duties as assigned by the program director within the PTA Program as a core faculty member.
- Maintains and renews current clinical contracts and establishes new contractual relationships in sufficient number and variety to meet the needs of the student clinical education portion of the program and CAPTE accreditation standards.
- Creates opportunities for professional development of the clinical faculty.
- Maintains current knowledge of the physical therapist assistant profession, clinical skills, and educational methodology through continuing professional development.
- Participates in student and program assessment from admission to post-graduation as outlined in the program accreditation assessment plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the program director and/or Lackawanna College administration including, but not limited to, CAPTE accreditation requirements, participation on college committees, student recruitment, and community service.

EDUCATION:
- Highest academic degree in physical therapy education; or, for a PTA, an associate degree with evidence of continued professional development.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Hold an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA license in any United States jurisdiction and is in compliance with the practice act in the jurisdiction where the program is located.
- A minimum of three years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice.
- A minimum of two years of clinical practice as an SCCE and/or CI or two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist assistant education program.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and evaluation of student learning.
- Experience in administration, management, and leadership. Experiences derived from the clinic are acceptable.
Preferred
- Higher education teaching experience in health care or related fields.
- Familiarity with usage of the online student clinical assessment tools.
- Familiarity or experience with CAPTE accreditation requirements for PTA programs.
- APTA CI credentialing certification.
