Location: Searcy, Arkansas Residential Campus
Job Type: Full-Time / Evening, Overnight, Weekend Availability Required

About Us

We are a Christ-centered residential program dedicated to providing structure, care, and support for youth in a safe and stable environment. Our team works together to help young people build life skills, emotional resilience, and positive relationships.

Position Summary

The Direct Care / Mentoring Specialist provides daily supervision, emotional support, and structure for youth in a residential setting. This role is responsible for creating a safe, respectful, and stable environment while modeling positive behavior, guiding daily routines, and supporting youth through challenges.

This position also serves as a lead support to the shift team, helping guide daily operations, respond to situations as they arise, and ensure consistent care for youth.

Key Responsibilities

Youth Support & Relationship Building

Build healthy, supportive relationships with youth through consistent interaction
Provide guidance, structure, and encouragement throughout daily routines
Model respect, responsibility, and positive decision-making
Support youth with emotional regulation and social skills

Safety & Crisis Response

Maintain a safe environment for youth and staff at all times
Respond calmly and effectively to behavioral or emotional escalations
Use approved training methods for de-escalation and crisis intervention
Follow all safety protocols and report incidents accurately

Daily Structure & Program Support

Supervise daily activities, routines, meals, and transitions
Help maintain a structured, predictable living environment
Support behavior expectations and house guidelines
Assist with life skills development (hygiene, communication, responsibility, etc.)

Team Support & Communication

Communicate clearly with team members during shift changes
Document shift notes, incidents, and observations accurately
Support newer staff through example and guidance when needed
Work closely with supervisors to ensure continuity of care

Required Skills & Competencies

Ability to stay calm in stressful or emotional situations
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Comfort working with adolescents in a structured environment
Good judgment, reliability, and consistency
Team-oriented mindset
Willingness to learn and grow in trauma-informed care practices

Minimum Requirements

Must be 21 years or older
High school diploma or equivalent required (college preferred)
Valid & current driver’s license
Ability to complete required training (TCI, CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration)
Experience working with youth, residential care, childcare, coaching, mentoring, or related fields preferred (not required)
Must be able to safely respond to crisis situations as trained

Work Environment

Residential youth care setting
Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts required
Active, fast-paced environment with both structured and quiet periods
Team-based support model with on-shift leadership
