Full Job Description

Fourth Grade Teacher

Villa Academy is an inclusive independent school community dedicated to developing the whole child in the Cabrinian tradition of “education of the heart.” Through dynamic, inquiry-based learning, Villa students become active agents of their own intellectual growth in preparation for lives of service and purpose.

Villa Academy seeks a full-time Fourth Grade Teacher to join its team beginning August 20, 2026. This educator will be creating a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters both academic and social-emotional growth. Beyond the classroom, they will have access to our multi-acre outdoor space with wooded trails, a garden, an outdoor learning pavilion, and a greenhouse. This is a ten-month, salaried-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Lower School.

The ideal candidate is a passionate educator with a deep understanding of Fourth Grade, particularly in fostering skill development. They will thrive in an environment that offers professional growth, opportunities for emerging leaders, and the chance to shape and expand our dynamic, inquiry-based program. This candidate will bring enthusiasm, expertise, and a commitment to engaging, student-centered learning. They will be attuned to the developmental needs of young learners, appreciating both their growth and unique needs. Additionally, this candidate will excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously and enjoy collaborating with fellow educators.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach one of two dedicated Fourth Grade classes
Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that align with the Fourth Grade curriculum and standards, including Common Core, NGSS, SSSI, and Learning for Justice, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Guide students in developing essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
Implement effective classroom management strategies that foster respect, inclusion, and positivity, incorporating social-emotional learning and Responsive Classroom methodology.
Work closely with the rest of the Lower School team to support students' development and ensure they are well-prepared for success in Fifth Grade.
Effectively partner and communicate with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies.
Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
Regularly assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
Participate in faculty/staff, grade level, and division meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
Commit to the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or teaching credential preferred.
3+ years of teaching experience with elementary-aged students.
In-depth understanding of, and experience with, inquiry-based learning in early childhood education settings.
Passion for working with Fourth Grade students, with a deep understanding of their developmental needs and learning styles.
Proven ability to implement effective classroom support strategies and foster positive relationships with young learners, particularly through the Responsive Classroom approach.
Experience with and appreciation for Zones of Regulation, as well as a solid foundation in interdisciplinary, STEAM-focused, and project-based learning.
Desire to utilize outdoor spaces to introduce children to nature and facilitate connections between them and their environment.
Proficiency with instructional technology including document cameras, interactive whiteboards, web-based learning software, and Google apps.
Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, independent school.
A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.
Ability to think critically, make sound decisions, communicate effectively, remain composed in challenging situations, and build positive, trusting relationships with others.

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

Anticipated salary ranges between $54,900.85 – $126,246.40/year, dependent upon education and experience.
