Full Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Planner is responsible for managing and scheduling customer orders within a fabrication environment for multiple valve product lines. Key responsibilities include routings, monitoring and advancing the manufacturing process to ensure customer requirement dates are achieved, as well as analyzing and maintaining appropriate material and inventory levels to support production demand. This role is also accountable for individual planning and scheduling activities and provides backup support to the Purchasing function as required.

This position is 100% on-site at the Hilton facility. Hybrid work schedule is not available for this position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

· After analysis of Production/Purchasing BOM capabilities – Schedule a “Fixed Acknowledged” date for customer orders including all line items – placing the product into the Production Backlog – this is done with careful analysis and consideration of the following factors, but not limited to:

o Customer Requested Date

o Availability of components manufactured and purchased using analysis of the BOM

o Measuring Capacity planning process

o Required to ship entire order complete

o Do not ship before dates

o Additional information from Customer Service or Projects Managers

o Export order requirements

o Customer Inspections

o Sales change orders

o Other Customer/Company special requirements/considerations (6 digits)

· Manage and adjust fabrication work orders as needed; develop and maintain material requirements in a fabrication environment to support assembly, component, and finished product forecasts that align with production and sales objectives.

· Manage and adjust inventory levels for components as needed; develop and maintain appropriate inventory to support assembly, component, and finished product forecasts, using item history and available product knowledge to align with production and sales requirements.

· Manage the execution of production activities that enable meeting commitments made to our customers and assist meeting on-time delivery performance. This includes:

o Generation of routings

o Generating appropriate Work Orders and Job Packs for each job, including tags

o Postproduction deadlines on the shop floor

o Communicating priorities and changes to shop management

o Serve as the focal point for the resolution of shortages or scrap, working with shop floor and procurement personnel

o Gather information and assure proper reconciliation on production/inventory discrepancies

o Examination and execution of purchase requisitions to support production

o Work with purchasing personnel to achieve optimal effects to cost, lot size and delivery date

o After evaluation – release (print and process) forward of production orders to the shop floor

o Expediting and follow up of production orders and purchased parts as required

o Re-Acknowledge Sales Orders appropriately as required working closely with Customer Service

o Work and reconcile NCR’s (Non-Conformance) purchase and manufactured components

· Monitor and maintain the accuracy of item data by applying demand, safety stocks, and custom material requirements to ensure on-time delivery of scheduled components and valves; provide weekly status updates in scheduled meetings. Continual periodic analysis of the following factors:

o Lead Times – internal (manufactured) and external (purchased)

o Work with “costing” personnel

o Proper processing of production orders on the floor

o BOM Structure

· Perform additional activities as requested or required, including but not limited to:

o Analysis and processing of Excess and Inactive components

o Where required Inventory reduction initiatives

o Cost saving initiatives

o System improvement

o Training of employees

o Procedure writing

o Consulting and involvement in new/lean programs or events

o Participate in and lead production meetings

o Ensuring new revisions (designs, drawings, parts, or assemblies) are introduced smoothly into production.

o Incorporate spare and replacement strategies when applicable

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in business/materials emphasis or equivalent experience.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
Minimum 3 years of experience planning/scheduling system along with working knowledge of a job shop environment.
APICS Certified or equivalent experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND Abilities

Attention to detail, with high degree of accuracy.
General Microsoft Office computer skills are a plus and ability to understand and navigate in Excel.
Ability to create routings and understand Bills of Material, prints and manufacturing processes.
Valve product knowledge an asset.
Excel at problem solving and having the ability to constantly re-establish priorities.

· Requires effective communication skills in working with all departments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.

· Position requires movement around the facilities.

· Occasional handling of material and components

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
