Job Title: Instructor for Advanced Certification for Environmental Service Technicians (ACET) - Per Diem

Reports to: Senior Manager of Instruction

Worksite Designation: Renton, WA

The Healthcare Training Fund (Training Fund) is a non-profit, labor/management partnership between eight major healthcare employers and the largest healthcare union in Washington State. The Training Fund was formed in 2008 and is a statewide program that addresses the workforce needs of participating employers and supports the career, knowledge, and skill aspirations of SEIU Healthcare 1199NW members. The Training Fund is the sponsor of the state-registered Health Care Apprenticeship Consortium (HCAC) serving a range of regional employers, unions, union members, and student candidates.

This is a per-diem, non-exempt position, not to exceed 900 hours per year. The Per Diem ACET Instructor provides in‑person instructional support for the Advanced Certification for EVS Technicians (ACET) program offered by the Training Fund. This position is specifically designed to deliver the three‑day ACET training for Environmental Services (EVS) staff and to prepare participants for successful completion of the ACET certificate.

Under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Instruction, Implementation Specialist and lead ACET instructors, the Per Diem ACET Instructor delivers in‑person lecture and facilitated learning, supports hands‑on skill development as outlined in the ACET curriculum, and reinforces content aligned with infection prevention, workplace safety, tools and equipment, and professional practice in healthcare environments.

This role supports training during scheduled cohorts and is ideal for experienced EVS professionals who want to contribute to healthcare workforce development in a flexible, short‑term instructional role focused on ACET certification delivery.

Based on the assigned title, which is determined by experience, education, and certifications, the incumbent must have the skills, abilities, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation:

Deliver in‑person instruction for the Advanced Certification for EVS Technicians (ACET) three‑day training program, guiding EVS staff through structured, instructor‑led learning sessions.
Facilitate ACET curriculum using Roubxe as the primary instructional platform, supporting participants in completing module content, knowledge checks, and required assessments.

· Lead classroom discussions, reinforce key concepts, and contextualize ACET content related to infection prevention, workplace safety, tools and equipment, waste handling, and professional practice in healthcare environments.

· Support the implementation of established ACET lesson materials, presentations, and learning activities in coordination with the lead ACET instructor, mentors, and Implementation Specialist.

· Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional learning environment that supports adult learners from diverse backgrounds and encourages engagement and successful program completion.

· Monitor and document participant attendance and participation using ACET attendance tools and communicate relevant updates to the program team.

· Provide clear guidance and constructive feedback to participants to support knowledge retention, skill application, and readiness for the ACET certificate assessment.

· Coordinate with ACET mentors during designated mentorship portions of the training and support smooth transitions between instructional and hands‑on learning activities.

· Ensure training spaces, materials, and technology (including participant laptops and classroom setup) are prepared, functional, and maintained throughout the three‑day training.

· Collaborate with Training Fund staff and fellow instructors to ensure instructional consistency and quality across ACET cohorts.

· Participate in required instructor onboarding, preparation meetings, or training updates related to ACET curriculum and delivery standards, as requested.

· Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all instructional interactions.

All instructional roles require relevant, recent industry experience aligned with the scope of practice and competencies taught within the assigned program.

· Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience working on an Environmental Services (EVS) team in a healthcare setting (e.g., hospital, medical center, or comparable clinical environment)

· Demonstrated knowledge of infection control, environmental safety, and hospital cleaning protocols

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adult learners from diverse academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Ability to manage time effectively and maintain accurate instructional and attendance records

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online learning platforms (e.g. Teams, Zoom, Rouxbe)

· Commitment to racial equity, inclusion, and expanding access to healthcare careers

· Valid Washington State Driver’s License and access to a reliable, insured vehicle

· Ability and willingness to travel between training sites as needed

This position provides services primarily in Washington State in person. The position requires various in-person involvement with apprentices, employers, instructors, and community partners at multiple locations.

Compensation

● $36.49-$45.33/hr. (Depending on experience & education)
