Full Job Description

LightScalpel, an American based surgical carbon dioxide laser designer and manufacturer located in Bothell, Washington, is looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our QA/RA team. In this role, you will support our Quality Management System and help ensure compliance with ISO 13485:2016 and applicable medical device regulations.

The Quality Control Technician plays a key role in complaint handling, nonconforming material reporting, equipment calibration, and quality documentation to help maintain the highest standards of product quality and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with a passion for continuous improvement and a commitment to maintaining a culture of quality and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive, document, and log customer complaints into the complaint tracking system.
Work cross-functionally with Customer Service, Sales, and Engineering to complete and document complaint investigations.
Help facilitate the review of customer calls for potential complaints and update status as appropriate.
Assist with NCMR’s (non-conforming material reports) and Deviation Systems by initiating, closing, and reviewing NCMRs and deviations as necessary for general compliance and completeness.
Conduct or support data collection for failure analysis, problem solving and root cause investigation.
Coordinate equipment calibration and maintain equipment calibration records. Send out equipment for calibration and necessary maintenance per schedule.
May initiate and review ECOs as necessary to ensure completeness and to detect any compliance issues.
Support the Quality team during peak periods or absences.
Examine, measure, and test products and materials for defects or deviations from manufacturer or industry specifications. Inspect materials according to specifications for workmanship, dimensions, tolerances, and usability.
Support inspection activities. Record inspection results. Keep accurate and detailed records of material inspections.
Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures and by reporting any safety concerns.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in quality control in the medical device industry
Proficiency with MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and regulatory requirements, specifically, FDA, ISO 13485:2016, CMDR (Canadian Medical Device Regulations), MDSAP (Medical Device Single Audit Program), TGA (Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration Regulations), and other applicable standards, preferred.
Basic knowledge of Complaint Handling and FDA Medical Device Reporting.
Understanding of Medical Device Risk Management, including CAPA/SCAR process, preferred
Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies.
Must be able to accurately read and comprehend documentation relating to material/production.
Understanding of basic statistical data trending and analysis.
High level of attention to detail and organization.
Proven ability to effectively work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job operates in a combination of production and office environment.
Work is performed while sitting or standing. Visual acuity is required for close tolerances and visual inspection. Performance of tasks requires manual dexterity to handle and gauge large numbers of components daily.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or remove items over 50 pounds.
Use of protective and safety equipment may be required.

Position Type/Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week.

Salary Range: $24 - $30/hour DOE (calculated based on full-time employment)
