Full Job Description

Welder 3 (Welder/Fitter Combo)

Location: MPM Tacoma

Position Type: Full-time | Hourly

Pay Range: $37.83 – $46.00 per hour

Seniority Level: Journeyman Level

Job Summary

Senior-level Welder/Fitter Combo responsible for executing complex welding and fitting tasks in alignment with ABS, USCG, ASME and company standards, leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring quality and safety throughout fabrication and assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities

Perform structural and restricted pipe welds on mild-steel and stainless-steel using SMAW, GTAW, FCAW.
Perform restricted open root pipe welds on Cu-Ni/ Ni-Cu using GTAW and SMAW.
Preform structural and pipe welds on aluminum using GMAW and GTAW
Ensure work is compliant with code and project requirements.
Support project deadlines through efficient planning and task execution.
Assist with mentoring Welder 1 and 2 team members.
Collaborate with QA to resolve welding and fit-up issues.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
All other tasks assigned.

Required Qualifications

5+ years experience as a marine or shipyard welder.
Previous ABS welding certification preferred.
Proficient in blueprint reading and metal fitting.
SCP certification preferred
Excellent safety awareness and workmanship.
Experience leading projects
Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and meet job physical demands
This position could require up to 30% of travel
