The Sound Hotel, a Four Diamond, award‑winning luxury hotel in downtown Seattle, WA is hiring a Seasonal Bellperson / Concierge to join our team. Managed by Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development, and hospitality management company.
This seasonal position is expected to end near the end of September, with some flexibility for the ideal candidate.
Job Overview
As a Bellperson / Concierge, you will be one of the first and last points of contact for hotel guests. This guest‑facing hospitality role focuses on luggage assistance, guest escorts, directions, and concierge‑style service to ensure an outstanding hotel stay.
This position is ideal for candidates with customer service, hotel, concierge, valet, or front‑of‑house experience who enjoy interacting with guests in a fast‑paced luxury hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities
This position must be able to perform the following duties with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Greet hotel guests promptly with a friendly, professional attitude
- Provide bell services including loading, unloading, and transporting guest luggage (up to 50 lbs.)
- Escort guests to rooms and explain room features, hotel amenities, and services
- Assist guests with directions, transportation information, local attractions, dining, and hotel outlets
- Maintain organized luggage storage and accurately tag guest items
- Deliver packages, messages, and guest items to rooms and meeting spaces
- Communicate room or service issues to housekeeping and hotel leadership
- Remain attentive and service‑oriented during busy periods and special events
Schedule & Availability
- Up to 40 hours per week
- Must be available for flexible hotel shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Seasonal role ending near late September, with flexibility for the right candidate
Additional Duties
- Deliver guest laundry, newspapers, mail, and VIP items
- Maintain cleanliness of bell carts, storage areas, and equipment
- Update reader boards and public area signage
- Answer the bell desk phone and provide guest assistance
- Support related hotel departments as business needs require
- Other duties as assigned by hotel management
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry luggage and packages up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and use of bell carts
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- High level of guest and team interaction throughout each shift
Safety Requirements
- Compliance with OSHA safety guidelines and required use of PPE
- Minimal routine exposure to hazardous materials with possible incidental exposure
Qualifications
- 1+ year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic math and organizational skills
- Strong time‑management, coordination, and decision‑making abilities
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
