Full Job Description

SeaTac Marine Services is a family-owned marine transportation company that has been in business for 25 years serving Alaska with barge transportation. We are currently growing and looking for an Assistant Terminal Operations Manager to help manage and provide leadership in our daily operations.

As an Assistant Terminal Operations Manager, your job is to help oversee the daily operations of a transportation facility and serve as a forklift operator when needed. You will report to the Terminal Operations Manager and will be expected to work as a tight team. This position typically focuses on managing commercial deliveries of product, ensuring it is organized and palletized, assisting with the loading and supervision of the barge, and lashing of cargoes. To accomplish the job, you help manage staff, assist in task organization, assist in coordinating a schedule, and assist in ensuring the terminal has enough drivers for its vehicles, assist in ensuring compliance with all regulations, assist in training of employees for their jobs, promote facility cleanliness and equipment maintenance, and provide feedback and suggestions to Terminal Operations Manager and Company Management.

Assistant Terminal Operations Managers are also responsible for supporting a positive culture, nurturing relationships with customers and vendors, participating in the development of strategic business plans, and acting as the Terminal Operations Manager when the Terminal Operations Manager is not present.

The position involves a lot of time outdoors supervising and assisting with loading of cargo, and will occur in all weather conditions, with an office and desk to handle research and administrative work. Some travel will be required. Our schedules are fairly regular and predictable, though at times we work nights, weekends, and holidays to get the job done and deliver for our customer. In this role, you may be exposed to odors, dust, mechanical hazards, loud noise, and potentially dangerous equipment.

You must be able to climb aboard a barge in all weather conditions.

You must obtain TWIC card.

You MUST be able to operate a Hyster 700 or equivalent.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
