Job Title: Regional Education Navigator
Reports to: Navigation Services Lead
Office Location: Renton, WA
Worksite Designation: Hybrid
Live in the Puget Sound Region of the State of Washington with a reasonable commute to Renton, WA. Approximately 50% of the work is in-person in various partner locations, 40% is telework from home, and 10% at office. Must go to partner locations or come into the office on an as-needed basis. Our organizational efforts require working with employees, hospital systems, and partners who have non-traditional hours. You may be required to attend meetings or meet with partners or members in the early morning, evening, or weekends.
The SEIU Healthcare 1199NW Multi-Employer Training Fund (Training Fund) is a non-profit, labor/management partnership including eight major healthcare employers and the largest healthcare union in Washington State. The Training Fund was formed in 2008 and is a statewide program that addresses the workforce needs of participating employers and supports the career, knowledge, and skill aspirations of SEIU Healthcare 1199NW members. The Training Fund is the sponsor of the state-registered Health Care Apprenticeship Consortium (HCAC) and of the Virtual Healthcare Institute (VHI) serving a range of regional employers, unions, union members, and student candidates.
The Regional Education Navigator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of a variety of Training Fund (TF) and Health Care Apprenticeship Consortium (HCAC), Apprenticeship and additional healthcare education/workforce development programs and services to members in the Greater Seattle Region along with other regions as assigned and/or with specifically assigned groups. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Navigation Services Lead to provide education navigation services to eligible healthcare workers, adhere to Training Fund benefit administration processes, and facilitate outreach and projects in relation to the assigned region. The Regional Education Navigator with collaboration of the internal team works to build lasting partnerships with our members, the union, employers and community partners. Candidates will be evaluated on the full range of their lived and learned experience, professional background, volunteer experience, and direct and transferable skills.

● Coordinates and executes programs, benefits, and services over a specific geographic area and/or with specifically assigned groups.
● Provides career and education navigation services to eligible members including career counseling, career and academic planning & navigation of systems and services including assisting with career goals and identifying service options.
● Facilitate implementation of all active projects and services, including those connected to grants and special projects.
● Supports the retention of working adult students in education programs from initial enrollment to graduation, assisting to remove barriers to member success, including completing referrals and the coordination of services.
● Connect regularly with members to assess needs and eligible supportive services.
● In collaboration with the Outreach Team, facilitate outreach events and field work for the assigned geographic region.
● In collaboration with the Navigation Services Lead, connects members to academic services provided through the Training Fund (including tutoring English language learning and basic skills).
● Reviews application materials, inform members of rights and responsibilities in regards to receiving funding and maintain member confidentiality.
● In conjunction with the administration team, assures the accuracy and completeness of data collected for the program, including data pertaining to eligibility, employer utilization and student outcomes.
● In collaboration with other Training Fund staff and teams, collects and reviews data for monthly and annual program reports.
● Develops, and works independently to maintain positive relationships with area union leaders, employers, local community colleges, colleges and universities, and other program partners.
● Build partnership in the community to be able to provide external referrals and coordinated services for member support and retention; this includes resources connected with childcare, housing resources, transportation etc.
● Coordinates with Training Fund staff assigned to deliver programs targeted for members in the region and/or with specifically assigned groups.
● Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Additional Job Functions:
● May be required to make presentations to members, partners, or other audiences.
● May participate as member of a team that analyzes program performance, member experiences, and recommends procedures and new systems to improve efficiency and outcomes.
● Minimum of three (3) years of experience in adult education/training or workforce development field.
● Knowledge and experience with career counseling and educational case management/navigation practices.
● Direct professional knowledge pertaining to Behavioral Health, Substance Use Disorders, and Peer Counseling to populations experiencing trauma, addiction, and recovery.
● Must be self-motivated, a self-starter and have strong skills in multitasking.
● Excellent interpersonal skills, face-to-face, telephone and email interactions.
● Personable, friendly, and customer service-oriented.
● Demonstrated success working independently and on a team to meet performance goals.
● A commitment to working with diverse members, staff and employer partners who have a variety of work and communication styles.
● Ability to connect with and motivate potential members to engage in education and training programs.
● Knowledge of underrepresented populations in higher education.
● Experience managing an active case load.
● Experience in a union or labor management environment or an understanding of unions and ability to work in a labor/management environment.
● Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

● Ability to critically evaluate and prioritize information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn the organization’s databases, including, but not limited to Salesforce, Rouxbe, Financial Edge, Monday.com
● Ability to work with integrity, credibility, professionalism and confidentiality
● Experience working with diverse populations and addressing participants’ unique needs
● Ability to follow privacy policies and respect for confidential information
● Bilingual skills and intercultural communication aptitude strongly desired.
● Understanding of healthcare workers, or experience with healthcare training programs throughout the Washington State college system, including familiarity with necessary prerequisite courses.
● Extensive skills to operate as a servant leader, planner, facilitator, problem-solver, coach, and motivator, including experience with student coaching and/or change management.
● Knowledge pertaining to labor management and union relations, and environment; experience working with multiple partners and stakeholders is strongly preferred.
● Experience with current organizational software: Salesforce, Teams, Monday.com, Zoom, Acuity, et al.; experience in educational recordkeeping and documenting practices.
● Zoom meeting support experience and/or foundational IT support and training experience.
● Proven record of working collaboratively to meet performance goals
● Successful completion of background check is required
● Valid Washington State Driver’s License and access to a reliable insured vehicle
● Needs to live in or move to the State of Washington in assigned region.
● Bachelor’s degree and 3 plus years’ experience preferably in adult education, social services, healthcare or related field, or equivalent lived experience related to job skills and duties.
● Master’s Degree (or equivalent demonstrated experience) preferred.

● Must be able to access and navigate the TF’s facilities, partner organizations, and classroom locations
Work Environment: Hybrid
This position provides services primarily in Washington State remotely and in person. Training Fund educational operations include limited program work in Oregon and Alaska. The position requires various “in-person” involvement with apprentices, employers, instructors, and community partners at multiple locations; other portions of this role will be split between telework work and the Training Fund office. This position will require travel on an as-needed basis and during some non-traditional hours (early mornings, later evenings, and occasional weekends) to meet with participants and attend meetings at locations such as hospitals, schools, public places (community buildings, event venues, etc.), and partner organization sites. Note: COVID restrictions may require a higher level of remote work.
Compensation:
● Compensation Range: $32.56-$34.18/hr. (DOE)
