As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a hands-on finance leader who will become a key member of our leadership team.
This is not a large corporate accounting role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, improving processes, and helping owners make smart financial decisions.
Position Summary
The Controller / Director of Finance & Administration is responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, cash flow management, payroll, human resources administration, and office operations.
This position reports directly to the owners and works closely with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and timely financial reporting.
The ideal candidate has significant construction accounting experience and enjoys building systems that support continued growth.
Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Oversee general ledger and month-end close
- Manage cash flow and prepare weekly cash forecasts
- Develop annual budgets and financial projections
- Coordinate with outside CPA for year-end reporting and tax preparation
- Maintain banking relationships and assist with financing needs
Construction Accounting
- Prepare Draw Requests
- Monitor job costing and project profitability
- Review Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports
- Track contract values, change orders, and retainage
- Review project budgets with project managers
- Analyze project financial performance
- Improve financial reporting for owners and project managers
Accounting Operations
- Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Manage payroll processing
- Ensure accurate billing and collections
- Maintain internal controls
- Oversee QuickBooks accounting system
- Recommend process improvements and future accounting system enhancements as the company grows
Office Administration
- Supervise office staff
- Assist with HR administration and employee benefits
- Coordinate insurance renewals and certificates
- Manage subcontractor compliance documentation
- Oversee office procedures and administrative systems
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years in construction accounting
- Strong QuickBooks experience
- Experience with job costing and WIP reporting
- Excellent Excel skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred:
- CPA or CMA (not required)
- Controller experience
- Experience with construction ERP systems
- Knowledge of AIA billing and percentage-of-completion accounting
What Success Looks Like
Within the first year, you will:
- Deliver accurate monthly financial statements within 10 business days
- Improve cash flow forecasting
- Strengthen job costing and profitability reporting
- Enhance office efficiency and internal controls
- Provide owners with timely financial insights that support better business decisions

Pay: $58,568.79 - $89,869.51 per year
