A family-owned daily newspaper in Central Florida is searching for an experienced
general assignment reporter who isn't afraid to ask questions, chase the truth, and tell
compelling stories.
If you're the type of reporter who enjoys digging through public records, sitting through
government meetings because what happens there matters, knocking on doors for the
other side of the story, and finding the feature hidden inside an ordinary day, we'd like to
talk with you.
This isn't an entry-level position. We need someone who can hit the ground running,
work independently, recognize a good story before everyone else does, and write with
accuracy, fairness and urgency.
Your beat will include: government reporting; crime, law enforcement and courts;
enterprise reporting; and human-interest stories
We're looking for someone who: has newspaper reporting experience, understands AP
style and journalism ethics, can cultivate sources and ask tough questions
professionally, is naturally curious and detail-oriented, can meet deadlines without
sacrificing accuracy, and has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a
newsroom team.
This is a full-time position with health insurance benefits in a drug-free office. The
position offers an opportunity to make a real impact in a community where local
journalism still matters.
If you're looking for a newsroom where your reporting is read, your work is valued, and
your stories can make a difference, we'd like to hear from you.
Send your résumé, cover letter, salary requirements and three to five published writing
samples to [email protected]
