Full Job Description

Medical DSP staff- 12-hour day shifts

The shift runs 8pm-8am

Job Requirements:

High school diploma and/or GED and a valid driver’s license are required with a minimum of one-year experience working with people who have developmental disabilities, nursing home type care or related experience.

Responsibilities:

Direct care of program individuals and implementation of ISP, medical orders and Required to perform all duties in accordance with State of Missouri regulations and Restoring Hope’s policies and procedures.
Complete and maintain all required State mandated trainings such as Medication Aide, CPR/First Aid, HCBS, client rights, HIPAA, MANDT and all other trainings required by Restoring Hope.
Assist with all medical tasks that are ordered by overseeing physician- this could include such tasks as gtube feedings, seizure protocols, transfers, bed checks, medication administration,
Communicate with assigned RN, program manager and direct care staff regarding any care and follow-up necessary for the individuals.
Provides transportation to and from activities; if needed.
Assist individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social and community activities based on their preferences and individual plans. Promote participation and involvement in community outings.
Works all assigned schedules, including but not limited to arriving and departing on time, requesting time off in advance (4 Hour notification for Call-Ins and/or Shift Changes), notifying the program manager of changes to your assigned work schedule promptly. All Shift Changes must be approved by Program Manager.
Ensures each individuals’ rights are protected; treats individuals with dignity and respect.
Administers medications to individuals as assigned, observes individuals for any changes in behavior or health that may have resulted from mediation administration.
Ensures individuals are dressed neatly and appropriately and are always groomed; assists and encourages individuals to care for immediate personal needs such as toileting, washing their hands, and eating.
Teaches individuals daily skills such as household chores, laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes, as appropriate according to their individual plans.
Observes individuals for evidence of injury or bruises and evaluates for changes in emotional and physical status.
Reports any noted problems to the program manager immediately and complete a written incident form.
Reports all DMH reportable events, medical incidents or crisis related issues to the Program Manager and assigned RN.
Acts as a representative for Restoring Hope in a professional manner when required, to families, service coordinators, State officials, community partners, local businesses, and Employers
Maintains resident confidentiality.
Treats all individuals and coworkers with dignity, respect, and fairness; provides support to other team members when individuals are having behavioral issues.
Utilize all necessary software- Quick MAR, Therap, OntheClock, email, phone, etc.
Documents all program data, including but not limited to individual plan data, behavior plan data, community integration logs, assessments, individual funds request, mileage logs, maintenance request forms, and supply acquisition forms.
Documents individual’s health (i.e. seizure charts, weight, bowel movements, fluid intake).
Ensures all documentation is accurate and completed at the end of each shift.
Ensures MAR entries are signed at the time administration occurs.
