Full Job Description

Job Title: Line Cook

Location: Indian Gardens Cafe & Market

Reports to: Kitchen Manager / Assistant KM

Position Overview:

Indian Gardens Café and Market is seeking Line Cooks to join our kitchen. Situated in the Oak Creek Canyon of Sedona, AZ, our café offers a unique and vibrant environment where we offer breakfast and lunch, using high-quality ingredients. The environment is tight and usually fast paced, we focus on communication, consistent quality, and speed to keep our busy cafe moving.

Stations and Responsibilities:

Hot Line Cook:

Operate and maintain the hot line station, including a 4-burner stove, 4-foot griddle, salamander broiler, toaster, steam table, and prep cooler.
Prepare and cook eggs to order, breakfast burritos, and sandwiches, ensuring timely and accurate preparation.
Heat and prepare ingredients in the morning and execute hot sandwich orders for lunch during the afternoon service.
Ensure that all dishes are cooked to the highest standards, following recipes and specific customer requests.
Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Cold Line Cook:

Operate the prep cooler and toaster to assemble sandwiches, focusing on precision and quality.
Assist the Hot Line during breakfast preparation and work with the pantry station to plate salads and other dishes during lunch service.
Restock breads and tortillas at the end of each shift to ensure smooth operations for the next day.
Maintain an organized workspace, ensuring all necessary ingredients and tools are readily available.
Pantry Station Cook:
Collaborate with the expeditor to ensure accurate and efficient food delivery, ensuring all orders are correct and promptly plated.
Plate salads and garnish dishes for lunch service, ensuring consistency in presentation and quality.
Manage and track ticket orders, maintaining strong communication with other kitchen staff to ensure all tickets are being worked on in a timely manner.
Touch every plate before it hits the pass, ensuring that all items meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Work with the salamander, salad prep cooler, and steam table to prepare and plate cold and hot dishes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a kitchen setting is preferred, but not required.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members, the expeditor, and front-of-house staff.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices for cleanliness and organization.
A positive attitude and a passion for hard work and good execution.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Ability to bend, twist, and move quickly in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
