What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Safety/Loss Control Coordinator to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As a Safety/Loss Control Coordinator you will help prepare and facilitate safety meetings for all employees and oversee safety committee meetings. Because of the dynamitic structure of all GVEC’s businesses, the position of a Safety/Loss Control Coordinator also maintains OSHA compliance for all departments throughout the organizations. The training doesn’t just stop within the GVEC walls. As a Safety/Loss Control Coordinator, you will also participate in and conduct electrical safety presentations for the public and emergency responders. No matter who or what you are teaching, the end goal is all the same. Prepare and train people.
Your Pay
The minimum starting pay for this role is $78,000 per year, plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.
How You’ll Help

Prepare and facilitate safety training meetings for all employees and oversee Safety Committee meetings

Coordinate updates to the Arc Flash Hazard Analysis

Assist with the Emergency Operations Plan and coordinate semi-annual tabletop exercises

Conduct job site Emergency Action Procedures with unannounced drills

Maintain compliance with OSHA Standards including recordkeeping, annual training and written programs

Coordinate compliance with Rural Electric Safety Accreditation Program
- Conduct formal investigations of accidents, injuries, near misses and mitigate liability claims

Compile and manage safety metrics and Business Plan goals pertaining to Safety/Loss Control

Support the Risk Management/Risk Control and environmental compliance programs

Assist in the corporate insurance process including Worker’s Compensation insurance claims

Schedule and conduct Smith Systems Driver Training and GVEC defensive driving classes

Maintain compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and Texas Department of Transportation regulations

Schedule & oversee random drug and alcohol screenings

Conduct electrical safety presentations for employees, the public and emergency responders

Maintain contact and coordinate with local, state and federal officials regarding safety, environmental and emergency and disaster event
Experience/Skills You'll Need

Be knowledgeable of, or capable of obtaining knowledge in OSHA Standards, National Electrical Safety Code, and the National Incident Management System

Proficient in Office 365 applications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively troubleshoot issues independently and without bias

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and impeccable integrity

Willingness to work with others to investigate and resolve safety and compliance issues

Able to sit, climb, crawl, kneel and lift 50 lbs. or more

Ability to work outside in extreme environmental conditions

May be required to work extended hours to accomplish tasks (24/7/365 availability)

Have or ability to obtain Certified Loss Control Professional and Certified Utility Safety Professional licenses
Preferred Experience/Skills
-
Experience in high voltage electric work, fiber installation, HVAC installation, Solar, or Electrician service
