JOB PURPOSE: The Revenue Cycle Coordinator supports the agency's financial health by coordinating and optimizing all aspects of the billing and collections process. This position serves as a technical expert and key resource for the billing team, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant claim submission and payment processing. The coordinator partners with clinical, administrative, and finance staff to improve workflows, resolve payer issues, and strengthen overall revenue performance.
This is a developmental role designed for a highly skilled billing professional with leadership potential. The position carries functional leadership responsibilities (training, process coordination, and quality oversight) but may not include direct staff supervision. The role may evolve into a Revenue Cycle Manager position based on demonstrated readiness and organizational growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate daily billing operations to ensure timely submission, posting, and resolution of claims.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for billing staff, training and mentoring new employees.
- Monitor the end-to-end revenue cycle - from insurance verification through payment posting - to identify and address barriers to reimbursement.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to resolve documentation, authorization, and coding issues that affect claims.
- Review accounts receivable and denial trends; assist in developing corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with payer regulations, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services guidelines, and internal policies.
- Support the CFO and Controller in preparing billing KPI reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
- Participate in revenue-cycle process improvement and EHR optimization initiatives.
- Maintain professional communication and uphold confidentiality and ethical standards.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSE(S), CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of billing experience in a behavioral-health or medical setting.
- Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance rules and processes.
- Demonstrated experience in training, workflow development, or quality assurance within billing functions.
Additional agency requirements:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Must be able to provide vaccination records for MMR, Hep B, Tdap and recent flu shot.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL CREDENTIALS / EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: Experience with Qualifacts CareLogic or a comparable EHR system
