REMS Technician — Part-Time
OsteoStrong Village at Pine · Wexford, PA
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring a part-time REMS Technician to run our radiation-free bone-density scanner and support the day-to-day operations of the scan program. This is a member-facing role in a supportive wellness studio serving primarily adults 55 and older. You will perform the scans, keep the scanner running properly, handle the administrative work behind the scan program, and grow into a training and reporting role over time.
ABOUT OSTEOSTRONG
OsteoStrong is a wellness center built around one focused 15-minute session per week that stimulates bone density, muscle strength, and balance. We are not a gym and not a clinic. Our members come to us to build the physical foundation they need for the years ahead.
WHAT IS REMS?
REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) is an ultrasound-based bone-density scanner. It uses no radiation, so no radiation license is required to operate it. A single scan takes about 15 minutes and produces a clear report on the member's bone density and fragility risk that the member takes to their physician for medical interpretation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Perform REMS bone-density scans on members, primarily adults 55 and older
- Position each member correctly on the scanner — accurate positioning is the core skill of this role, and it is what makes each scan usable
- Operate the REMS software and complete each scan cleanly and consistently
- Deliver the scan report to the member and to their coach (members take the report to their physician for medical interpretation — technicians do not interpret results)
- Run the manufacturer's daily calibration and quality-assurance steps, and ensure the scanner is operating properly at all times
- Submit repair tickets when equipment issues arise, and follow through until resolved
- Handle REMS program administrative work — scheduling emails, member reminders, records, report delivery
- Train other staff on the scan process as the program grows
- Provide brief operational updates to the manager and owner on scan volume, equipment status, and program health
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
An imaging or clinical background is preferred, but we will train the right candidate. Backgrounds that fit well:
- X-ray technician
- Ultrasound or sonography technician or student
- Medical assistant (MA)
- Phlebotomist or other clinical role with scanning or positioning experience
No radiation license is required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Comfortable working with adults 55 and older
- Service-oriented and personable — this is a member-facing role
- Calm, professional, and unhurried — our members should feel at ease
- Detail-oriented and consistent — good scans come from doing the same careful steps every time
- Reliable and self-directed with administrative tasks — you own the operational side of the scan program
- Willing to grow into training and reporting responsibilities over time
HOURS
10 to 15 hours per week to start, scaling as scan volume grows. Daytime coverage during the week with some Saturday-morning availability required.
COMPENSATION
$18 to $24 per hour, based on imaging experience and how quickly you can run the scan protocol independently.
LOCATION
On-site at OsteoStrong Village at Pine.
2000 Village Run Rd, Suite 207, Wexford, PA 15090.
This is not a remote role.
