About Yard Boss

Yard Boss is a growing lawn care company serving customers throughout Lincoln, Omaha, and the surrounding communities. We have built our reputation by being knowledgeable, dependable, honest, and focused on providing an exceptional customer experience.

We are lawn care specialists, not generalists. Our team takes pride in doing things the right way, communicating clearly, solving problems, and following through for our customers.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Office Manager who can lead our office operations, support our customers, and help move the company forward.

The Position

This is not a position where you simply delegate work from behind a desk.

Our Office Manager is a hands-on working manager who will regularly answer customer calls, process payments, manage accounts receivable, support sales, oversee office operations, and supervise one to two additional office team members.

You will also be part of the Yard Boss leadership team. You will work directly with the owner and other leaders to identify problems, improve systems, and help the company grow.

The right person for this position is a strong problem-solver who takes ownership. We are looking for someone who can identify an issue, find a solution, handle it, and provide an update rather than allowing every problem to land on someone else’s plate.

Primary Responsibilities

Answer incoming customer calls and provide friendly, professional, five-star service
Resolve customer questions, concerns, and service issues promptly
Process customer payments and manage accounts receivable through our CRM
Follow up on unpaid balances and maintain accurate customer account information
Support inside sales, follow up with potential customers, and help the company achieve its sales goals
Supervise, train, support, and hold additional office employees accountable
Help review and screen applicants for open positions
Assist with light human resources and employee administration
Assist with accounts payable and maintain assigned financial and operational reports
Learn and eventually take responsibility for processing payroll
Maintain accurate customer information, notes, schedules, and workflows within the CRM
Identify inefficiencies, recurring customer issues, and operational problems
Develop practical solutions and help implement improved processes
Keep the owner and leadership team informed without requiring them to manage routine issues
Participate in leadership meetings and contribute ideas that help move the company forward
Assist with occasional home shows or company events that may take place on a weekend

What Success Looks Like

Within the first six months, a successful Office Manager will:

Consistently provide five-star customer service
Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
Take ownership of problems and follow them through to completion
Reduce the number of routine issues that need to reach the owner
Keep accounts receivable organized and current
Improve follow-up with prospective and existing customers
Help the office team become more organized, productive, and accountable
Identify problems before they become larger issues
Bring solutions and updates—not just problems—to the leadership team
Help improve systems that support the company’s continued growth

Required Qualifications

At least three years of office administration, customer service, office management, or related experience
Experience managing or working extensively within a CRM
Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills
Experience processing payments and managing customer accounts
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through
Ability to manage frequent interruptions while continuing to prioritize important work
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to supervise, train, and support other office employees
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Willingness to work from our Crete office Monday through Friday

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a home-service company or another high-volume recurring-customer business is strongly preferred and will be a major factor in our hiring decision.

Candidates with the following experience may qualify toward the top of the salary range:

Five or more years of relevant office management experience
Previous leadership or supervisory experience
Experience working for a lawn care, landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, pest control, construction, or other home-service company
Experience managing a high volume of recurring customers
Strong CRM administration and reporting experience
Accounts receivable and accounts payable experience
Payroll experience
Inside-sales experience
Experience improving office systems and processes
Familiarity with QuickBooks Online
Experience using AI tools to improve workflow and productivity
Bilingual in English and Spanish

Compensation

Base salary of $55,000–$67,000 per year
Starting salary will be based on relevant experience, leadership ability, home-service experience, CRM knowledge, and overall qualifications
Candidates who meet most or all preferred qualifications may start at or near the top of the range
Eligible for performance bonuses based on company sales goals
Expected annual bonus opportunity of approximately $3,000–$5,000, with the potential to earn more during exceptional company performance

Schedule

This is a full-time, salaried position.

Normal hours:
Monday through Friday
7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Weekend work is generally not required, except for occasional home shows or special company events.

Location

This is an in-office position based at the Yard Boss headquarters in Crete, Nebraska.

This is not a remote or hybrid position.
