Pace School is an Approved Private School and Partial Hospitalization Program located in Churchill, serving more than 140 children with Autism and Behavioral challenges, from Allegheny County and neighboring county school districts. Pace School is hiring a full-time Behavior Management Coordinator (BMC). The objective of this position is to deliver the assigned elements of children/adolescent’s mental health treatment plan, and to establish and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for children/adolescents that is conducive to the delivery of mental health treatment within an educational setting.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor degree in the Behavioral Health field including but not limited to: psychology, social work, human services or related field.
Successful completion of all required background checks, physical (as required by the PA Dept. of Education) TB test, professional/personal reference checks and any applicable pre-employment requirements of the position.

Preferred: Experience working with children/adolescents in a school-based partial hospitalization program or other mental/behavioral health setting. Intensive training working with children/adolescents who present challenging behaviors.

OBJECTIVE: To deliver the assigned elements of children/adolescent’s mental health treatment plan. To establish and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for children/adolescents that is conducive to the delivery of mental health treatment within an educational setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Treatment
1. Provides therapeutic/behavioral interventions to children/adolescents.
2. Leads implementation of the behavior management system and specific interventions consistent with the therapeutic treatment plan for each child/adolescent, as directed by the Mental Health Therapist and/or Psychiatrist.
3. In collaboration with the treatment team, develops short-term therapeutic/behavioral objectives for each child/adolescent as assigned.
4. In collaboration with the treatment team, develops and/or identifies treatment interventions to assist each child/adolescent to achieve his/her treatment objectives and tracks the effectiveness of the interventions through observation and systematic data collection.
5. Participates in weekly treatment team meetings by providing data and other information as requested relevant to the child/adolescent’s progress toward mastery of treatment goals and objectives.
6. Facilitates morning and afternoon therapeutic goal setting and progress review groups.
7. Leads and co-leads therapeutic psychoeducation, and social skills groups/activities with children/adolescents.
8. Implements the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) process with fidelity.
9. Utilizes relevant structured clinical assessment tools, under the direction of the Mental Health Therapist and/or Psychiatrist, to monitor clinical progress of children/adolescents and report results to treatment team as assigned.

Crisis Prevention/Intervention

1. Maintains certification in the adopted Crisis Management system and consistently applies knowledge of crisis intervention and behavioral management such as verbal de-escalation techniques, non-confrontational limit setting and physical restraint/management and utilizes the behavior management program set forth by Pace procedures.
2. Utilizes physical restraint/management techniques and procedures, in accordance with Pace policies, only as a last resort intervention to keep a child/adolescent safe from harming him/herself or others.
3. Intervenes with children/adolescents during crisis situations, under the supervision of the Mental Health Therapists, Partial Hospital Program Supervisor ,and/or Psychiatrist.
4. For other clinical emergencies follows Pace policy and procedure as directed by the Mental Health Therapist, Partial Hospital Program Supervisor and/or Psychiatrist.
5. Understands and follows Pace policy and procedure as it applies to Child Protective Services.
